The drop request is already at 3422 and climbing as fast as the 6xx's sold out.

Keep an eye out on their discussion page. After asking, the rep said they'd make announcements on Facebook and Twitter. Hopefully the duplicates get sorted out and people can try again.

Exactly why I didn't order this morning, haha. How long before the used market plummets, I wonder...

After reading the thread, this is all I can think about right now.

    I like this update:

I don't speak dev fluently, but sounds like there was a few issues.
    1. Payment page got crushed by influx
    2. The above destroyed the checkout database
    3. The checkout database explosion seems to have rocked a few other things on the backend
    4. Everything is on fire
I hope this becomes a recurring drop like the K7XX, because I missed out. I mean, I have a modded HD650 already, but it would be fun to have a bone-stock pair for reference.

As much as it would be great for another 5000 units to be made available, I'd be worried about shipping delays, which has become a bit of a sore spot for Massdrop customers. With a planned delivery date of 12/25, you know there are going to be lots of sad children with no HD6XX under their Christmas trees. That said, if any headphone manufacturer could double their production plan to meet this level of additional demand it'd probably be Sennheiser.

If you received a payment authorization either through Paypal or in your bank you might be alright after all. Apparently all those orders made it in the system but are somehow 'stuck'. Massdrop is working on a solution.

I'd be more likely to assume a second drop will happen, after the holidays.

FYI, my kids would be super bummed to get this headphone. They think daddy is coo coo with his amps and DACs and whatnot....

Haha by "sad children" I was referring to Massdrop customers who complain about every little thing imaginable whether it is a real problem or not.

With that number of HD6XX suddenly in people's hands, it makes it oddly tempting to try and find a way to put my "special" HD650 cable together in a sufficiently cost-effective and efficient way that I could actually be motivated to offer them for sale (and do so in a manner that was worthwhile me expending the time on for the "more-than-one-or-two-here-or-there-done-at-cost for SBAF friends" kinds volume).

The existence of a well-matched and very cost-effective balanced amp, in Schiit's Jotunheim, makes that more tempting still.

Still, there's a gulf of difference between what's involved in the idle speculation such likely-fleeting temptation promotes and what it would take to actually do it. Just contemplating the administration and paperwork has me wanting a nice long nap ...

Well, I guess I need to eat my words that it would sell out in the first 24 hours. Oh well. Hopefully we'll see manybon the used market once people realize they need to mod them to really sound exceptional.

Well, I started hitting refresh at the time of the drop. Got in about 10 minutes later. And then the process of the "oops, this page has timed out" began. An hour later, I saw it!! That big fat green "join drop" button. In my haste and utter childlike exuberance, of course I clicked it as fast as humanly possible (channeling my old school twitch shooter skills from my Counterstrike days).

What I didn't notice is that "credit card" was already selected as the payment method. This is bad because I have bought anything from MD in a couple of years and the card has expired. BUT...I got the email saying that I've successfully joined the drop, payment status says "pending." I think that they may just give me the boot when the card is declined. But maybe they'll ask for another form of payment. Right now I'm in limbo...

So I just received the Massdrop email stating I successfully joined the HD6XX drop.

My last attempts to join were almost 7 hours ago by this point. For those of you who are not in yet there's still hope!

Woah that's interesting. Did you leave the transaction window with the spinning wheel open the whole day?
