Very cool. Looks like Pete Millet has a nice butte.

I'd be interested in comparing to the HP-1 once I've built one. Anyone game?

Is the CCS specific to the stock opamp? Do changes need to be made if you swap chips?

I should dig mine out and upgrade it.

Best to ask straight from Pete. He has been very helpfully and patient.
I seemed to have those small SMD components installed allready...

No, it's simple class a bias for opamp, it will work with any opamp.

Would be interesting to know where the Butte stands compared to some Schiit for example.

Not yet. But I am holding a group buy for TKD pots right now. It's about half the price but you'll have to wait two months.

Are the pins compatible with the ALPS pot? I'll have to check.

I did not check compatibility.I thought to ask here first if some more experienced people ,managrd to make it fit.
If they fit I will join the group buy. I am not in a rush.

The pins don't appear compatible. The Alpha pot has a spacing of 7.5mm x 5mm while the TKD pot is 5mm x 4.5mm.

Could work depending on how Pete did the PCB but it doesn't seem like it. You would have to bend the pins a bit.

Yes, he did say it will have to made to fit as it is not a drop in replacement.

Did a little more investigating. Seeing how big the holes need to be drilled it seems like it would just 'barely' fit in there, rubbing up against the edge of the PCB holes.

So it's doable. But a little tricky.

An alternative would be to install it sideways and use wire to connect the pins to the PCB.

Good idea! I have the Butte "offical" casing so that might be unfortunately a bit complicated. Have to read a bit more how this can donè.

In doing some research the only 1000uF 25VDC Elna Silmic II cap is 35mm tall with bigger lead spacing. Probably won't fit in the stock box...

But if you were to get one of these (cut to fit) for an UberButte of sorts, that would also open up more options for the pot. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TJ49K4U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2RKGEIGG4B1JT

I am tempted to get one of these to try and see how it would work out. The pin spacing is a whole 10x10mm from the face so it would need work, but I'm thinking of jumping the input switch anyway so I could just lay it on its side... http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Bourns/91A2A-B28-D15-D15L/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtC25l1F4XBU5x05J6GJgoy8uTdg6PKX2g=

Got mine all built up - decided to go with standard caps and the stock enclosure as they're all power and not in the signal chain - and I really don't want to deal with the chassis work.

Got the OPA551s to start in unity gain, but my power supply is all messed up. Wall wart is giving me ~15VAC and I'm getting 20VDC from one regulator and nothing from the other. What a pain, but Pete is being very responsive and helpful in emails.

Keep at it Auri! A little debugging just makes the amp that much more enjoyable once you get the issue sorted.
