Today I learned my Oris Horns don't have Pm6a's in them at all as advertised, but I'm fairly certain PM4a drivers, marking sticker is long gone, but the size of that alnico slug is like a damn babies head. I'm ok with this free upgrade.

did a bit of updating :D
can post pics of measured responses and rta's with calibrated mic, but they are basically flat 20 -20k with rel. low distortions. :)

Also, forgot, I know I'm not a friend yet (and I don't care) but if someone from Croatia needs help I'm willing to :)

Am also open for criticism too, ofc.

Sorry for double post, hit reply instead of edit :(

Measurments : no smoothing (1/12 on rta), far field gated to 170 Hz, rest are nearfields - they align with far field perfectly from 150 -300 Hz
    https://imgur.com/a/Ecine

I boosted bass up 5-10 db on main profile (got Harman curve on my rta), but have a second profile with flatter bass also.

Finally got around to adding three new components (Freya, Vidar, RSA Nighthawk) to my stereo setup.

BIG THANKS to @sphinxvc and @Pyruvate for facilitating the upgrades!

lol so I decided to tease @ohmaigulay and loaned him the Nighthawk phono. Before, he only wanted to dip his feet into vinyl, but after hearing real magic for the first time, he's diving head first now! @shaizada would be proud :D

hehe you have a big boy system now.

    @ohmaigulay

Sweet setup! Did you find the Sierra Towers (pretty sure that's them) needed the sub, or is that for TV/Movies?

Haha. Yeah the Nighthawk has been a revelation especially with great pressings. Even ended up ordering a stylus upgrade for my cartridge!

Yep! Sierra towers with a HSU VTF-2 Mk4 sub. I use the sub to add a little more heft and reach deeper lows. I sealed both ports and set the sub EQ for maximum extension as opposed to maximum output. It’s crossed at 40Hz. I tried to tune it for music and don’t change anything for movies.

I can live without the sub but I do enjoy the added support.

Shiit components really look like something else. Is that a fireplace? Is it real? Do you use it? Not afraid of the heat damaging the TV?
Also, I just recently got a small used techics turntable to fiddle around, will make my own preamp for it. What are your impressions comparing vinyl to digital?

    @Ardacer

It’s a functional fireplace but we don’t use it. There’s no danger to the components.

I have a U-turn Orbit with a Grado cart and RSA nighthawk phono. Compared to digital through Schiit Modi Multibit, vinyl listening is way ahead especially with high quality pressings.

    "way ahead"

Honestly, I'd expect it to be "a bit worse" (in a matter of measurable accuracy, reproduction). I'm not trying to start a vinyl vs digital discussion, I'm just interested in what makes you think it sounds better, as I have yet to try it myself on what is, no doubt, shit gear compared to yours.

I was asked by my friend who makes high end a class tube amps to help him measure his new speakers, a tad 2-way.

The woofers are TAD tl-1601B, and tweeters are TD2001 in this horn - http://www.geocities.jp/arai401204/Horn/A480/A480.html

    It's impressive.

He also asked me to help him design a passive crossover, which I did. 4-th order LR at 1000 Hz. Didn't sound right, didn't measure right (anyone surprised?). He eventually found a pro made crossover exactly for his drivers, and that measures really nice and flat, +- 2.5 dB, from 40 dB to 20 000.
CSD's are nice and clean, and, surprisingly, harmonic distortion and imd is higher than my vifa xt25 and wf132tu01, although! My speaker setup is a lot more linearly distorted (I correct that with DSP, though - end result is the same), and I have almost everything under 1% of thd, everywhere (other than sub bass, ofc.), but 3rd harmonic (and odd harmonics) dominate. In the case of TAD, it varies between 1 and 2 %, between 200 and 400 Hz iirc it goes up to 4%, however 2nd harmonic dominates generously. I don't have the real measurements here, but I can post them if someone's interested.
The supertweeters just introduced unnecessary lobing, and screw everything up, so we (he) decided to ditch those.
Also, the rest of the stuff is here: https://imgur.com/a/yqh6f

p.s. still better measurements than Jude's

^^^ Those are super cool looking speakers, and TAD to boot.

That setup reminds me of the vintage Pioneer Exclusive 2402s. It didn't need super tweeters either...

It's supposed to be a copy of this or a simmilar speaker. Not exactly sure, it might be this exact one. He told me, my memory is as poor.

    Here's mine at the moment:

It's far from ideal, but atleast the basic frequency response is more or less even from 60hz upwards. I flipped the speakers because the little shelf at the window was causing the bass to disappear so now the port is right up against the wall and SBIR is dealt with as best as possible.

I had ordered room treatment panels (bass traps mostly) but cancelled it, because I intend to move out of this place in a couple months and need to see how things pan out before investing further (and buying more stuff to carry when I do move)

After trying several wide band single driver speakers with Aficionado, decided to try something a classic, Klipsch Forte iii. Really excited as this extends much further, both high and low, than other options that I've tried. Looking forward to rediscovering all my favorite albums.

Added some Aurum Cantus G2 ribbons above 9khz on the Oris system. Pure TrashFi, but I'll be damned if it isn't nice to have some air back. Tri-amped, Minidsp for woofer/tweeter crossover/eq, the lowther is ran only with a single audyn copper cap.

^^^ Agreed, and the best part might be the part you don't see, the passive 12" on the back. I really hope you deem that reissue a winner @JoshMorr ...

Guys, the vintage Klipsch designs are a lot of fun and a tweakers paradise with all the possible Xover and driver upgrades. Keep an eye out on your local Craigslist because sometimes people let these go for relatively cheap. The Heresy, Forte, Chorus, Cornwall, LaScala are all great candidates. Belles and Klipschorns are usually expensive and really aren't as good as the LaScalas IMO.

My best friend has a pair of LaScalas and runs them with some Luxman 30w Class A amp he got in Japan. With the right electronics these things actually throw a very un-hornlike image, and are crazy efficient as well.

Congrats @JoshMorr , those probably weren't cheap. Klipsch really upped the price on the whole "III" series. My experience is solely with the originals and "II" series, in which I sold a ton of those back in the late 80's - early 90's.

Isnt the front a 12"and the passive on the back a 15"?
