    Can’t believe @Torq retired without completing this comparison and answering the question everyone wants to know - does a black bifrost sound better than a silver one?? ;)

    I also wanted to add that my comments on brightness on the 4399 may be overstated because I am so used to my Denon with 1702's as well as my CD players with TDA1541's. I have a Fiio X3 II with CS4398, but that one is also slighhly warm.

    I just prefer more natural less peaky sources that have more relaxed sound. Although I do get posts of enjoyment out of my LG V20 with the ESS chip. It's good to have options.
