Sweetness. I'm really considering that as my endgame chain for my HD650. Let me know when you're selling the Joti when you get another itch to upgrade :p

The Joti is impressively resolving and does some very nice things for the 650. It's a good sign that I have started going through my test tracks and before I realize it I've gone through half the album instead of the one track I was planning to listen to.

@Prydz ...do I think that the Joti is better than the Val2, well yes. It's been a while since I've owned it though. If you want the features and flexibility of the Joti, yes again.

This may be a little bold, but hell I've had a few cocktails so I guess I can speak my peace. At $400 the Joti sounds better and is more functional than the LC at half the price. I'm glad that I got that out there, I feel much better now. **hick**

Did you know gin & tonic with pepper & slice of cucumber give better sound quality?

So far no Jotun impression on HD800. Myself right now:

Thanks! What kind of EQ do you use (Sonarworks, etc)? My problems with stock Valhalla 2 feeding HD800 are quite thin notes & dry mids.

Yes, I use Sonarworks for EQ.

To be expected. Inherent qualities of both components. Not sure you are going to EQ that out. Maybe pair with some romantic tubes...

Yep, on the other hand Valhalla 2 has big & airy soundstage, decent dynamic, clear, quite speedy. EQ doesn't help the dry mids - tried it with Sonarworks. Actually EQ made it worse. I am thinking about some Amperexs, but if the Jotun sounds thicker & lusher than Val 2, I surely prefer it than Amperexs.

You are running high gain on the Valhalla 2 right?

Yes, I am. Volume knob on 11 o'clock position to reach 85 dB avg. with HD800. Maybe I am still adapting from Chord Mojo..

Mojo is neutral sounding and can be dry and prickly in treble, especially from crappy USB outs, which means 99% of laptops. Supposedly optical is better, but optical has always been like killing the patient to cure the symptoms. In any event, Valhalla 2 isn't a warmish lush tube amp.

Bass is cleaner but treble grain is still there over optical. Tested pioneer LD player to Mojo and still problems. Was a pain in the buttocks since I dumped my mini to full sized optical cable a while ago and had to order a new one.

@Ice-man Do you run LISSTs as well in your Mjo2? Would be very interesting to hear impressions on this vs the Joti. I ended up with Mjo2+LISST because it's SS, sounds good, stacks with the Gungnir Multibit, and has balanced inputs and balanced pre-outs for speakers. But it seems like maybe Joti does all these things just as well (except for the stacking :)

^^ I've always thought that the mjo2 sounded best through tubes. LISST just didn't do anything for me. Otherwise I would have just bought an original mjo for about $150. ;)
