Sennheiser Massdrop HD6XX Afternoon Yak Devolved into Shitposts

I literally, 1 minute ago just orders new 650s. Oh well, patience is one virtue I lack.

 

Could always cancel it, right? Though, realistically, I probably wouldn't. It'll likely be a while before this shows up on your doorstep. And, again, that's assuming it's a new Senn. Which is a bit of a leap at this point, I'd say.

That's what I thought, too. Definitely seems possible. But that's hardly unassailable evidence, you know?

Is this really HD650 Massdrop edition (renamed to HD6xx)?
If it had something special that normal hd650s don't have (e.g. design, color, ergonomics, cable, ...), it would be hugely attractive.

I'm guessing an all black version with a slight modification, similar to what they did with the K7XX.

 

Has anyone actually tried the Groove for real though and not as in store display bullshit with lossy pop crap? On paper it can't power the HD 650 bass despite being bundled with it. All I could find was this gold head fi review:

Lol. God damn, I'm a huge Stallone fan...comparing anything to over the flop, really makes me want to buy it. Worst movie ever. That amp must absolutely blow.

 

100% chance that image shows hd6XX. Somebody knows something and is holding out on us!

 

I'll wait until it's confirmed. Still skeptical myself, but would save me a lot of work on the compendium rebuild if this is accurate. If it is, I'll probably buy two.

Since we have a dedicated speculation thread now, I'm just hoping they update the aesthetics a bit, maybe use nicer materials in some areas (leather?), same pads, add a balanced cable, and focused most of their efforts on dampening and minor acoustic tweaks as inspired by the mod trifecta.

 

If it comes with a spare pair of legit pads, I'm sold.

 

If that's what they did, I'd expect a price of at least $400. Certainly not lower than the current HD6x0 prices.
