What does it mean when you say a hair leaner sounding?

It means that the overall tonal balance will be slightly more tipped towards treble, because the Andromeda's impedance curve slopes upward.

You may want to check out the impedance graph and subsequent explanations in the CA Andromeda Measurements thread.

Got it. Andromeda is really source-dependent.
Is it possible to modify the OI of the dap so the tonal balance of the iem could change to what I desire?
Would an amp do the job?

Sure, in that case the amp's OI would determine the result. The last link in the source chain matters.

This, too, might be an option:

    Thanks for the info.
I still got some confusion on how the iEMatch would improve the problem of matching my dap and Andromeda.
So like, the iEMatch reduces the sensitivity of the IEM and reduce the OI of the dap?
    Am I understanding correctly?

Like I said, when it comes to OI, the last link in the source chain matters.

    • Assuming your DAPs have around 2 - 3 ohms OI (as mentioned earlier), the Andromedas will sound leaner / brighter.
    • Using the iEMatch in Ultra setting as last link in the source chain will reduce OI to <1 ohms, so the Andromedas will sound fuller / bassier.

I'm sure @shotgunshane can provide more detailed info, but that's pretty much the gist of it.

    Got it!
I just checked the OI of AK70.
    Output Impedance: Balanced out 2.5mm (1ohm) / PHONES 3.5mm (2ohm)
I've only listened to Andro with the phone out.
Would switching the stock 3.5mm litz cable to a 2.5mm litz cable improve the situation?

@shotgunshane, I'm taking a break from startup mania to ask for your expert opinion. I'm looking for a fun IEM that's less than $300. I currently have an ER4XR that I just find a bit boring. I'm looking at the Yamaha EPH-100, Dunu DN-1000, ATH IM50/70 or maybe just sticking with the old trusty SHE3590. Isolation is very important to me, on pair with sound quality. Do you have any recommendations between those or can you suggest any others I should investigate?

You can try but I don't trust AK specs on OI. They have those same specs on almost all their models. Tyll at IF measured the AK240 single ended closer to 3 ohms and balanced IME is usually double single needed, not the other way around.

I'm assuming fun means more bass?

A used Aurisonics ASG 1Plus can usually be found under $300 and it's my idea of fun. Slightly V shaped with warm and impactful bass. Or the iBasso IT03 would be an excellent choice. It's bass is really quite fantastic. Similar sig to the Aurisonics. Treble is a little plasticky sounding but overall a great buy under $300. If you really want some quality bass, the IT03 is the ticket.

The only AT model I've heard in the IM line is the IM02. Its on the warm side of neutral, so maybe the IM03 might be worth looking at.

On the cheap, I can't recommend the Fostex TE-02N enough but you need to mod it. @james444 final+1 mod is excellent and frankly gets pretty close to the Aurisonics sig. My other fun cheapies would be LG Quadbeat 3, AKG N20, Soundmagic E10 and Ostry KC06.

E10 is more good than $50 IEM has any right to be. (RIP English but I can't rework that sentence properly.)

I think this is what you were trying to say, but I could be wrong.

I'm sorry if this is a question that has been posted previously, but I really liked the 3-flange ear tips (https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Res...=1490812982&sr=8-3&keywords=etymotic+er4+tips) for my ER4s, and was wondering what people have been to be there favorites for their Campfire's... I just got the Andromeda V2's and am in heaven.

It seemed like the selection on Campfire was limited so I'm wondering what other people have tried out and like. I tend to not prefer tips that go slightly deeper in the ear versus something like the foam tips that you squeeze and space out in your ear.

    Thanks in advance!

So I managed to get a replacement for my damaged JVC FW01 and have the rare opportunity to A/B a burned in vs not burned in DD. There's a difference. The bass on the new ones is much woolier, looser and more elevated compared to the burned in ones.

Edit: Also hearing a little more harshness in the highs.

There could also be driver and QC variances.

    Hope not.

Got the FAD Heaven Vs today. Very comfortable for me. Good, reasonably punchy bass for BA. Lush forward mids. Treble is smooth and a little rolled off and doesn't really sparkle with cymbals or get bright enough with brass. Pretty good spaciousness. They seem to generate a weird sort of resonance that smoothes over the sound. Not sure how to describe it. Timbre isn't close to my DDs.

Overall pretty good - doesn't do anything too wrong but doesn't really stand out either. Makes things overall just a bit muted and sweet, like heard through one of those photo filters that make things look nostalgic. Seems opposite in that respect to the FIBASS.

@james444 But SGS said in the ieMatch review that:

"iEMatch in Ultra setting has slightly less bess presence overall, while retaining the same depth of extension. Due to the reduction of bass levels, the Andromeda treble feels a little more present and clear. While still maintaining a very low output impedance, the Andromeda sounds slightly more neutral than straight from the QP1R.

iEMatch in High setting reduces bass another notch or two, while elevating treble quantity perception a noticeable amount in the Andromeda. While overall sounding more neutral in bass through the midrange, the treble peaks of the Andromeda become more prevalent, lending itself to a much brighter presentation that isn’t quite as smooth as it is with lower amounts of output impedance."

And you say having the ieMatch in the ultra high config. would give Andromeda a fuller and bassier sound.
    That's where I'm confused.

A fuller / bassier sound compared to your DAPs, which have 2 - 3 ohms output impedance. SGS is comparing to the QP1R, which has 0.15 ohms OI.

The iEMatch in ultra setting is in between (<1 ohms OI), so relative to your DAPs it's an increase in bass, and relative to the QP1R a decrease.

I just got the Shozy Zero and Cozoy Hera in, seem very good, especially for the price. Will say more when I have time to listen for a bit.
