I have a suggestion for the leaderboard. It goes from value components which are a few hundred dollars to no limit components which are well over $2000 in many cases. I think components in between say around the $1000 mark would be of great help to most people who dont have no limit budgets.

The headphone section is fine, I'm talking about the DAC and amp section in particular.

    Thanks.

But what if there are no good DACs and amps in that price bracket?
(Although I think that currently, Gungnir Multibit, Bifrost Multibit, and Black Widow might fill that space...but prior to these products' release, it just didn't seem like any products fit the bill)

In my mind there seems to be "natural" barriers in pricing: <$100, <$300, <$500, and <$1000. Above the kilobuck, that is an area I have rarely tread for any single item (computers, cars, house, Gungnir Multibit). Maybe the new entry level is <$300, due to the affects of gaming headsets, Beats, and Bose on the masses. I know I balked at breaking the $100 when I was looking at the AD700's oh so long ago. They were $129 way back when. $1000 bucks is quite a bit dosh for most people. There are only a few companies that have done a good job of bringing good sound down under a kilobuck.

I'm really confused, $1,000 for a house or a car is too expensive?

Edit: I realize that you're listing the things that you do spend $1,000+ on. My mistake.

How about the hooded robes of the Pontifex Maximus like Palpatine? Marv can wear them as he's the Emperor of SBAF.

Suppose we stick with democratic process, would one have to be qualified to have an opinion on all the types of gear for voting rights, or could we be issued selective voting rights for certain categories? For example, the Caesar/Emperor could grant someone a vote on headphones but not no-limit amplifiers based on the essay submitted.

So, it says the HE-560 needs careful matching. Any examples/suggestions, or does this come down to personal preference?

In my limited experience the 560 needs power and more power. I had my Lyr 2 cranked to 80% on high gain to give me modest listening levels. It also has a fairly neutral sound, so pairing it with an analytical amp may produce a clinical sound (may be your preference).
