I think this is the last set of headphones in the mid-fi box of love. Which means pretty soon I'll start sending these out to their owners, or if their owners want, put them on tour along with the AKG-7xx (coordinated through velvetx).

This particular white/red set looks somewhat familiar. I think these are either Marv's or OJ's. And I think these are w/o mods.

The cans are light and follow a pro/studio closed type design. They are pretty sturdy. A little rough on the pads. The head cushion does not appear to be of the same material as the pads in the cups, and is of lower quality. The cable looks pretty decent. The fit is a little loose however.

    Here is the black version:

The cans in their stock form have great bass and lower mids are awesome, if you get a good fit. These tend to be a little loose if you have a narrow head, and these cans definitively need seal to bring up the bass into the equation.

Things start to fall apart a bit from the high mids and up though. This is where mods are needed to get the most out of these cans. Stock they do sound wonky and a little sibilant. It's not too bad considering the price, but it may not be for everyone.

    Anyhow

Yeah that treble bite really gets to me at times. It never quite goes away even w/ mods. Other than that, these are pretty insane for the price. Cheap headphones shouldn't be able to have bass this well extended. Better bass slam and sensation than a lot of planar crap.

Here's a pic of my recable:

Bass is very high quality indeed, at any price point.
