Ahhh, the Bloody Mary... Nutritious, delicious and keeps the shakes away...

The origin story I subscribe to is that of Ernest Hemingway having a morning eye opener of vodka, neat, whilst lodging at the Paris Ritz. His wife at the time, Mary Welsh, was seen descending the hotel stairs heading for the lobby bar by E.H. who said to the bartender, "Bloody Mary... Put some tomato juice in here, quickly!"

There are as many different recipes for this drink as there are choices in headphones. Post your favourite here and endeavour to personally review each as time and liver damage allow. [IMG]

Confirmed, this is an excellent way to increase one's slack.

At my bar, I like to make the "Scottish" version of this. I swap the vodka for smokey scotch, rinse the glass with Ardbeg, and garnish with Bacon, Pickle, and Pickled asparagus. If I'm at home, I will skip all that fuss, and just throw a Slim-Jim in!

    Mine is easy:
    1/2 glass vodka over ice
    splash of Louisiana Hot sauce
    few dashes of Worcestershire
    Celery Salt
    Cavender's
    olive juice
    1/2 tsp horseradish
finish the fill with Mr&Mrs T's

Repeat until it is all better...

This is a good idea. I usually drink rum and coke, in honor of Cuba, but this has caught my interest. Healthier too.

I have never been a huge fan of the original with vodka. I tried it with rum the other day and I found it to work really well.

I prefer the "Caesar", simply replace the tomato juice with Clamato juice (slighltly more salty). Usually, this or a light beer with a tiny bit of Clamato (Red Eye) is my hangover cure (used this long before Budweiser's Cheladas).
Guess I'm showing my Canadian roots :drunk:

I've seen Clamato used all over, so it's not just you Canucks - I like the Clamato too.
