Sort of a micro deal, but schiit USA is offloading some B-stock, including the Bifrost, Gungnir, Lyr 2, Mani, and maybe a few others. Includes multibit variants.

Anyone interested in a new Sony NW-WM1A might want to look at Amazon UK. Current price (don't know how long it will last) is £758.46. For those where VAT is removed it's £632.05.

Shipped to the US, and taking off VAT, it translates to a little over $800.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Electron...F8&qid=1484158062&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+nwwm1a

And this is not a Amazon Warehouse deal or a reseller, but direct from Amazon.

Likely reasoning for discount is the concerns and returns caused by the EU volume limiter, but there's now a hack out (has been discussed on HF and SBAF) that takes off the limiter. I haven't done it myself, but know others who have.

    Cheers!

I think this is just their normal price whenever they get a big batch in. They have this price about once a month till the batch sells out then they'll just have a few units at full retail price. Just goes to show how high the dealer mark ups are on these daps, I'm sure they are still turning a nice profit. Too bad the gold price hasn't gone down at all, I think it was around 1900 pounds (with vat) at 1 point in November, then again that's probably a good thing for my wallet.

Posting this HD650 deal again. Price on the Amazon UK page is £237.00. However, when you add the HD650 to the "Basket" and checkout, you get a price of £197ish. With global shipping to the United States, total was £212.39, which is roughly $259 at today's FX. Flexible return policy too.

Edit: This basically renders the HD6XX irrelevant to me once you factor in the $20+ replacement HD650 cable you'd have to buy and the HD650's better paint job. I ordered to have a spare.

I think that will be the volume capped EU model. You don't want that.

You can uncap it......there is an easy method running a few command prompts on windows.

I don't know. Amazon is an authorized dealer for Sony and I've heard from other AD's that Sony doesn't want them discounting anything
Exactly. Wouldn't have posted it otherwise. Cheers

Will the uncapping survive firmware updates, and do you have links for more info? If it's actually reliable, I might be tempted.

Here you go. Have heard of many people doing it successfully and have a 1A on order from Amazon UK that should get here Monday.

    http://www.head-fi.org/t/815841/new-sony-nw-wm1z-wm1a-flagship-hi-end-dap/6765

I also just got a 1Z, so will be able to do some head-to-head brother-to-brother comparisons.

    Cheers

Hey, thanks- that actually makes sense, those aren't the Android ones, so less of a worry about it being removed by updates. Happier with that.

(Mostly been looking at the ZX2, which is an "import and hope" job)

I have a little over $100 in Amazon gift cards loaded into my account. Doesn't look like I can use the gift card balance at the UK site, sadly...

    Actually you MAY want that.
If you can read French, there is a software tool on TellementNomade to remove the volume limitations.

I may indeed- this one's not Android-based, so the usual tools do work to uncap it. I'd spent ages considering a ZX2, which can't be easily uncapped- I'd have imported a Japanese one. I'd totally forgotten how to brain, which is why it's nice to have other people around with similar interests.

Courtesy of @mscott58, the standard destination changing stuff can be used, as detailed here:

    https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SonyNW...nation_settings_and_sound_pressure_regulation

This is good, as my rusty schoolboy French often lets me down! Suddenly, this DAP looks like a much better deal.
