It was pretty disappointing trolling though, way too obvious and juvenile to provide entertainment value.

    Thread was nuked from orbit.

...yet the offender is still around. Between this and @Psalmanazar coming back to troll us in the ZMF measurements thread, this has not been a good day for sbaf.

Forgive me, I am old. FTFY is? And iron means what in this context?

Probably should not presume to know what entertains me. I'm far too twisted. And sad is definitely not correct, just disappointed. Thanks for your concern for my emotional well-being though.

Personally, it just made me laugh. It looked enough like a strange conspiracy that it was tempting to continue with the silliness. Plus.. cats.

    Mostly.

It´s all about identification. To identify yourself with something you need borders and others who live behind the fence. Nice to play with if you don´t take it too seriously, especially if you are aware of your absolute, non-dual true nature, ha! Just having a heart will mostly do as well... ( Pirate´s wisdom:pirate07:).

It's really sad that their emotional needs depend on what other people enjoy or don't enjoy.

One of my first hobbies, back when I was in high school, was drinking Chinese tea. Now, the thing about tea (like wine) is that the best tea in the world is crazy expensive. Like, thousands of dollars a pound. And isn't even imported to the US, usually...typically, really top-tier teas are bought by rich Asian businessmen. I had to learn to accept that I'd never have "the best" and be happy with what I could get. And you know what? I learned to accept it, and I was happy. You can get some really good tea on even a high schooler's budget, and once you stop worrying about what other people have, you can appreciate that what you have can be very good even if it's not the best.

Audio's the same way. Are there upgrades I'd like to make? Sure. I'd love to replace my Bifrost Multibit with an Yggdrasil, but that's not in the budget right now. I'd love an Auteur when they come out, but that's also not in the cards. But you know what? My current setup sounds damn good, and the fact that other people have nicer things doesn't stop my things from being nice, too.

I feel bad for people who constantly need to label everything as snake oil, since what that really means is that they feel insecure in their equipment and don't know how to appreciate a good setup for what it is. Sure, there's plenty of snake oil in the audio world, but blowing that up into "all expensive stuff must be snake oil, otherwise I lose" is just delusional, and that's really no way to live.

My avatar is old and needs a refresh. I have a black cat named Blackjack, we nicknamed him Yak because at feeding time he scarfs down all the food before the other cat can eat it. Then he barfs it all up. Anyway...He is so black that when he walks around all you can see is this black object with a pink neon butthole. To reinforce the "The stupid ass cat avatars", maybe I need an avatar of Yaks ass.

I guess someone here doesn't like trolls much. The reddit post was an obvious troll so why wouldn't this thread be one as well.

That said I didn't see anything that needed whitewashing. I mean look at the area where this thread is.

    Couldn't agree more with you!
From my POV, there's also the case of hearing something expensive but spectacular, let's say it costs 4k.
There's the option of thinking "even if my setup is nice, I really want that expensive thing", and determination is wonderful, because it can motivate someone to get a better job, work more, be more organized, etc...be disciplined and save money (let's say 2.5k) and buy that thing second hand in mint condition. In my mind, that's an accomplishment.
There's other type of people, the ones who bitch about anything because they can't afford it, with price being the only factor in the equation, this kind of people doesn't get out of their confort zone neither take time to analyze things...for me, this kind of people are losers.
