Congrats to Mike, Jason & company for bringing the multibit sound to an entry level price point. Would love to see a shot of the internals.

None of this matters and to put things in perspective. No one out of Schiit knows when they are going to release the Modi 3. And if you guys haven't figured out the pattern by now, there will eventually be Fulla 2, Magni 3, Vali 3, Asgard 3, Lyr 3, Mjolnir 3, Ragnarok 2, Mani 2, and probably a whole of of stuff that we haven't figured on yet. It's simply of matter of when.

Yeah, specs seem pretty identical to Bifrost Multibit. I can't wait for some impressions.

Wow that's super impressive to get multibit at that price. Still it's out of my budget unfortunately... I guess I'll just have to settle with the 4490 M2U for now.

Super happy for schiit though, and after reading what Marv said, I can say that schiit have changed the game for audio and they are going to keep changing it further until everything goes to schiit. (in a good sense).

I am baffled at how they could get specs pretty identical to Bifrost Multibit in the Modibit. They truly know their schiit. (enough schiit jokes lol).

I would guess that @Marvey is referring to the supposed "obsolescence" of the Bifrost with this release. The point being that there will always be something newer and better. But I'm not sure.

Yes, it is. It's called "metal shortage." No conspiracy here.

Looks like I was wrong. Turns out you can fit a linear power supply, R2R DAC, DSP and SPDIF controller all on something the size of the Modi. That took some real heroics. This completely negates any reason I had to get a dam1021 except to have balanced outputs.

I am really curious to hear impressions of the Modi MB vs Bifrost 4490 vs Soerkris dam1021.

There is still the question of this mystery device that Mike is working on.

And maybes its own silent revision to the 4490? Or maybe 4495/S?

If the 4490 bifrost at hits way harder than a 4396 bifrost, a Gungnir that hits harder is like the stuff my dreams are made of...

I got a hint of this when Jason answered one of my threads in the DIY forum. He mentioned working on something with a switch mode power supply that needed to be compact, otherwise he would just use a linear supply.
