Any recap or time selections that are interesting? It's a pretty long video.

Lol... more processing power = better sounding. Ram is your best friend. Good stuff! Time to build myself a new desktop.

Hmmm, need more RAM and cpu cores, got it. Are there any stickers I can put on my computer to improve SQ further?

I can't believe this guy is being sincere...

Starting from 4:47 - "The more processing power the computer has, it seems the better the computer sounds. Quad cores sound better than dual cores. I don't think there are single cores to be found anymore. The pro world has known this for decades. RAM is your best friend. The more RAM you can get, the better the system will sound. Consumer computers seem to be maxing out now at around 16GB of RAM but if you went into a recording studio they'll typically use something like a big Mac tower workstation and they'll have anywhere from 32 to 64 to 128GB of RAM but they're also running programs that require a lot more overhead..."

I couldn't keep transcribing because I was laughing too hard and interrupting the Christmas morning festivities.

In all honesty though, what is there to be done that can improve sound using a computer?

You can always bypass the terrible Windows resampler and ditherer using WASAPI or ASIO or use a Mac or Linux (reconfigured pulseaudio config) in order to have better resampling (still not as good as the good DACs' filters, not even close to Megacomboburrito). Then there's the Wyrd as well

I don't even know where to start...Being generous, you can take what he says as general applicable to computers in general, but saying all that stuff makes the SOUND better is mind-boggling. Maybe if you are using the computer's mixer...

Wait, he says the Mac Mini is great computer for audio but it doesn't have that much RAM and has a slow CPU... Laptop sounds better than a desktop?!

So if I use foobar2000 and either WASAPI or ASIO I don't need anything else? What is the difference between those two drivers by the way?

Asking @Psalmanazar for help on this topic. As far as I know, WASAPI sends the audio stream directly to the driver and lets the driver itself choose what to do from there while a native ASIO driver will force the DAC to change its master clock to a multiple of the audio stream sample rate. For good DACs that can switch clocks automatically, I think WASAPI will be fine. You can always use Linux ALSA which provides both bitperfect playback and better USB 2 driver support

"Quad core sounds better than dual core".

Are any of the major audio players even multi-threaded? What about typical OS audio stacks?

^^ Yeah. I mean they already have no credibility, but this is a whole 'nother level of stupid. And they're doing this publicly; this guy is an Audioquest representative. *mind explodes* Someone needs to post this under "How to dispel any doubts that your company is bag of douche in one easy seminar."

I can't take a company that manufactures and advertises "audiophile" cables and other snake-oil/bordering on snake-oil products while still trying to maintain a "scientific" or "objective" approach seriously.
