Whoever designed the UI should have been shot, or at least fired.

Quick question for you Tidal users: is it possible to eliminate the "Featured Section" in the UI. I find this featured section smack in the middle of the window offensive when I have to pay $20 per month and wish to listen to German Pop Metal from the 80s.

I use Tidal every day and can not find a way to customize the appearance of the Tidal app. You might consider using Tidal through Roon instead as Roon is more configurable. Roon is payware but they do have a two week free trial so you can try before you buy. I tried and did not buy as there was no advantage to me. Some users were reporting better SQ through using Tidal with Roon but that was not my experience. In fact during the trial period while trying different settings in Roon I managed to corrupt the driver for my Brooklyn DAC+ and had to reinstall. Take a look at Roon you may just like.

Not that I'm aware of. Their service desk was helpful when I had questions early on about things, might be worth a shot there.

Agreed. I simply avoid it entirely and stream through Audirvana.

The settings are incredibly limited and the user experience never "learns" or tailors suggested media based off what you've listened to. They simply want to shove shit / endorsed media in your face.

Yeah. I'm too stubborn to want to deal with that. Going to cancel subcription because the occasional pain of having to find my old Scorpions CDs or burning a CDR less than the ongoing ever-present low-level pain of having shit shoved in my face.

@Marvey, you might try creating a playlist instead of adding songs to your “Play Queue.” If you shift-click you can select a bunch of tracks at once and dump them all into a playlist. The offensive featured UI goes away if you click the playlists tab (under my music) and select the one you want.

Also, if you listen to full albums the “Featured” nonsense goes away if you click the song title in the bottom left hand corner. This brings up the album info (track listing etc). I can post a pic if it would help.

Edit: My bad, you can select multiple tracks at once, but it looks like you have to add them to a playlist one by one

If you click on any of the other tabs on the left or click on the bottom of the UI (between the ellipses and the shuffle button), the "featured items" will go away. Also, I'm not exactly sure how I did it, but my sub is 19.99 CAD rather than USD.

The Tidal UI has always been less than stellar, and I also get frustrated with being forced to see their promotion while paying for the premium service. Almost as bad as Hulu, which makes you watch adds with tv shows.... WITH a paid subscription. I canceled that right quick. As for Tidal, I only use the My Collection->Downloaded witch has no adds or promotions.

That's just the What's New page, which also happens to be their home page. I don't use that page at all and after starting up always click immediately to My Music or Albums on the left side. I wish Tidal had a preference setting for startup page, but I don't think any of the other services (Spotify, Google) have it either.

The most annoying thing I find about Tidal UI is when you expand the now playing screen, and they show the silly spinning album cover, cut out into a circle. Sometimes information is really sparse for classical music albums and I just want to read the text on the album cover, but they have this stupid gimmick going on.

Ok, seriously, having to pay for a service and have no option to remove "advertisements" is infuriating. I quit Tidal because they are missing contracts with lables like Mammoth, which is vital to my stoner rock needs.

The problem is the only other lossless streaming. option is Qobuz, which charges you in pounds so you’re basically paying double.

TIDAL through Audirvana+ is the best solution because I feel the simple UI and search functions are much better. You also have the benefit of better sound quality by using Audirvana+ instead of the TIDAL app.
