Just found that this was a thing: https://www.tortugaaudio.com/products/preamp-buffers/tpb-v1-tube-preamp-buffer/

It's a dual 6H30 tube input, SS FET output preamp buffer that goes between a passive preamp and power amp. Most importantly though, it can be set to unity (+0dB) gain, +3dB, or +6dB gain with a very low OI of 27 ohms. Would be interesting to combine this with a Saga with low powered tube / class A amps and/or with low sensitivity speakers. It's a pretty expensive proposition though, starting at $1,495.00 for the SE version with no upgrades.

    Thoughts?

Surprised no one has posted anything on these pre-amps. Tortuga / Stereo Coffee / Lightspeed. Seriously worth checking out.

I'm going to try the Stereo Coffee kit, the kit is less then NZ$ 200, just needs a PSU, RCAs and a case. Or, you can shell out for the fully built Java version, also from NZ.

Better yet why not go for the Tortuga LDR passive pre-amp, This is cutting edge stuff and it about $300 cheaper.
