So my dad has a Bang & Olufsen turntable, I believe it's a RX2. Unfortunately the stylus has broken. Would a Sound Smith SMMC3 cartridge for it be better than a Po-Ject debut carbon with an ortofon 2M red?

Hi all. Looking around for a £2 - £2.5k turntable. Any thoughts on the EAT C-Major? It's getting some good press and seems well priced at £1950 including an Ortofon Quintet Blue MC (http://www.europeanaudioteam.com/en/eat-c-major-000116.html). I think I'm narrowing it down to this, a Nottingham Analogue Spacedeck or a Michell Gyrodec SE (although the latter is going over budget a chunk). Cheers for any thoughts.

I'm looking for advice on upgrading my phono preamp. I have the TC-750 with an upgraded wall wart. Not a sola-hd, but it does sound better than with the stock power supply. The turntable is a U-Turn orbit with an Ortofon 2M Blue. I'm sure the turntable will get upgraded someday, but it's here to stay for now.

I'm looking at the RSA F-117 Nighthawk phono stage. I want something not much more expensive than it and something that I'll want to keep when I upgrade the turntable down the road. Is this a solid choice, or should I be doing something else?

I've found what I think is a good deal on the Marantz TT15S1, which he is willing to sell with (900 euros) or without (600 euros) the Ortofon 2M Black that he's currently got on it.. Does anyone have experience with this table? I've seen some people claim the magnetic anti skate is rubbish but apart from that not too much reliable information

Please pardon my ignorance. I'm doing more research about the TT world and have a couple of questions.

    1. What are the differences between arm tube, arm wand, and tonearm?

    2. I'm looking at some metal tonearm for classic 3/signature. Is there a difference between this JMW-10.5 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/361912370218?rmvSB=true) and this (http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649282094-vpi-classic-3-rosewood-new-sealed/images/1257713/).

    3. Phoenix Engineering Engle/Roadrunner are recommended for VPI table but they just closed shop. Is there a good alternative for this besides VPI SDS/ADS?

    4. What would you recommend for some great value mono cartridge at $500-700 range?

    Thanks,
    Dan

    1. If you are talking VPI tables the tonearm/tube/arm wand is the arm itself with counterweight. The base is... the base and comes with the table. VPI has two bases that they use on the Classic and above: one with VTA on the fly and one without.

    2. I'm pretty sure they are the same; the second one just has a black metal mid section which looks cool.

    3. No, I don't believe there are.

Anyone have a Milty Zerostat to sell me for cheap? Way too expensive for what it is (for me). I got lucky with my Onzow Zerodust and found a direct-from-the-factory source on eBay that sold it for a third of the price.

Just how vinyl was intended to be played, on a Bluetooth speaker.

Well it is kind of cool, so I get the backing. But I just don't understand why you wouldn't just use Spotify at this point. There aren't many benefits to vinyl done this way besides kool-factor.

Unless, maybe you want to use it on very old unobtainable records but don't want to invest in a giant turntable. Still though.

"There is no degradation of sound quality because they only use the finest Bluetooth." or whatever he said.

The charm of surface noise - I never learnt to appreciate that. Maybe I've been wasting my time with record care, RCM etc.

For something actually cool, check the Sugarcube.
