I'll probably wind up going for between $950 and $1050, but anywhere less than that and it's a decent deal for a very nice little unit.

Best price I've seen so far is $750.

I've been thinking about getting a phonitor since Grizz's latest review. The original runs have been running at auction for $500-$600 on ebay, which makes some sense since the Phonitor 'e' (newer version of the phonitor 2) is running at around $1100 to $1200.

What a price.. It must be a sweet steal. Tempted to own it if the price is really that low.
Sadly, what I've just found in ebay is way more expensive:(.. : http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPL-Phonito...923854?hash=item33c86d140e:g:aPAAAOSwt5hYdcCF

And I somewhat think pho e is successor of phonitor mini, mainly because its crossfeeder is limited compared with phonitor (original), phonitor 2, and phonitor x.

Also of note, the Phonitor2 can route the headphone matrix through its preamp outputs in case you want to try other amps with the fancy schmancy crossfeed. I don't think any of the other versions lets you do this.

I read some reviews and I am pretty much ready to buy those, unless someone could tell me why I would prefer Jotunheim over those two. And I do not need a preamp and I would not buy USB only DAC anyway. Yes inconvenience of adjusting two volume knobs may be a problem, the only one I can think of.

Maybe if you eventually want a really good all-in-one desktop solution, but if you don't need to worry about desk space then there's probably not a big reason to get the Jot.

At this price I would consider it, at worst, a free extended-term rental. The included XLRs are a nice bonus-the whole package should be an easy re-sell, even with the non-matchy cases.

Just make sure your DAC has XLR balanced out if you want to run these as monoblocks.

Yes, my balanced DAC is on order from Massdrop, but I am a bit concerned by the InnerFidelity (2014) review that they run very hot and what it means for a long term reliability. On the other hand, I have a pair of app 10 years old Talisman class A headphone amps, they do not even have an off switch and they are doing great.

I used to have those monos. As long as they aren't stacked directly on top of one another, I wouldn't worry about the heat. If you do stack them, an inch of clearance is enough. I literally just snipped a toilet paper roll into quarters to act as feet.
