Using a splitter to connect a DAC to two amps - will it affect audio quality?

I ordered a Schiit Sys and am planning to use it in reverse to split the output of my Bifrost Multibit to output to both Lyr 2 and V200. Will that have a negative impact on audio quality? Seems like it should. Hopefully won't be noticeable at any rate.

It should be fine, in fact, Jason even says that you could use a Y cable with no negative impact on quality.

I use a SYS out of my Bifrost too, and haven't noticed any degradation in sound.

It should not have a big impact. It may lower the output to each amp but you would still have plenty of input level and gain to run just fine.

Oops sorry, Pyruvate beat me to it.

Do you need anything more complex than an RCA Y-splitter for this task? I'm going to do the same thing; run two amps so I can listen with other people.

I noticed you using those in your old 'reviewing the world's best headphones' video. I've actually used that to dismiss claims by people trying to imply it's detrimental to audio fidelity and since facts and figures won't convince that type, seeing you use it on $30,000 worth of equipment generally convinces them since they're not quite off the deep end enough to ignore that.

Doesn't the Sys have one pair of RCA inputs and 2 pair of RCA outs? I don't see how it'd be possible to feed one source to two amplifiers using it? or am I somehow confused?

You can actually use the Sys in reverse (use the outputs as inputs, the single input as an output), you just need to set the volume pot to full volume/100%. Schiit mention it in their FAQ:

Ahh okay thanks for both replies. Make sense since the Sys is a passive circuit.

sorry about opened an old thread, but one DAC, three amps. Anyone know of a three way splitter? I'd rather not split twice, just keep the cable clutter down.

Throw a Sys on one of the legs of the splitter? Find a passive preamp/switcher that's at least three-way?

(You can run the Sys "backwards" as an output switcher, just turn the knob all the way up so that nothing is attenuated)

Do you need to feed the three amps simultaneously or can you use a switch? Many cheap choices for the latter.

I was hopi g to have it be as passive as possible. I just looked behind my amps and I can afford one more pair of splitters. Just kickin' myself because I just did a monoprice order and could have snuck it in there. Maybe I'll just make a custom multi plug cable :).
