Not too long ago, I wanted to figure out how to route multiple audio sources to one ASIO output, one audio source to multiple ASIO outputs, and so on.

I tried a number of solutions, including Virtual Audio Cable, Reaper, and a few others I found.

What I eventually settled on were several options from VB-Audio, all of which are donationware (you can download them and use all of their features forever for free, but it's nice if you donate).

There are a few different main solutions they offer that I found to be useful.

The stuff I'm using of theirs is all virtual cable software:

One is VB-Cable. This is the simplest of them, and basically lets you route output from one software application to another. I actually discovered this when figuring out how to route audio through Reaper to use VST plugins in all of my computer's audio (which can also be done using JRiver's WDM driver).

Where it gets interesting is Hi-Fi Cable. You can go Bit Perfect from any application to an ASIO driver as long as you make sure your sample rates match. This lets me use ASIO with TIDAL or anything else that could be worth using Bit Perfect.

Finally, we have VoiceMeeter and its Pro (donationware) variant, VoiceMeeter Banana. It gives you a bunch of input sources, a bunch of outputs, ASIO/WASAPI/KS/Etc. on all of them... basically, it's a really good mixer. It also has a parametric equalizer built in that can be used on every output, and you can use it to record.

All of the applications are really cleanly made and work quite well. They're a little weird to use at first, but there are videos that people have made in addition to documentation that make setting it up pretty simple.

Does anyone else use their stuff? If not, check it out.

It's not truly bit perfect, expect some degradation in VB-cable. Have not tried the other one though. Still both are pretty useful in the scale of things.

HiFi-Cable is in theory. I don't have a way to measure outside of placebo, though.

I've been using it for a free trial of TIDAL.

Anyone using this? I've been playing with VST parametric equalizers and I wanted to use them with MusicBee. The VST plugin support is a little buggy in MusicBee. I di quick test in Foobar and it seems to work great. Still not convinced to switch as the configuration requires some time investment.

So if I get this bridge working I can use any VST plugin with any source, e.g. MusicBee?

Also I see Jriver has an ASIO device option is that designed to be used in this manner also?

VB-Cable allows me to route YouTube through Jplay which I quite enjoy doing. The tradeoff is a less responsive internet browser for better harmonics(texture/tone/decay) Also I have to check email on my phone as Outlook doesn't get along with whatever Jplay is doing.

Another big fan of VB-cable here. I use it together with VST Host so that Ozone 7 can equalize music films and videos with VLC Media Player, YouTube etc. No, it isn't bit-perfect but we are talking less than pristine sources to begin with. I doubt that the degradation is audible. I would not use it with lossless audio files - and do not need to as players like Foobar support VST plugins natively and can output via Wasapi (or ASIO).
