    Wow.

The Denon PMA 50 digital pureness argument is BS. All digital things will have to go through a DAC and then into some sort of amplification/current buffer. Integrated solutions included.

@Marvey has ample experience with all kinds of "high end" speakers. And I agree with @Marvey that the AKG K812 sounds like shit. The Utopia, as much as I don't like it, sounds better then a K812 to me. A simple HD600 destroys a K812.

The K812 is IMO a cluster f**k. Don't buy it.

Also I don't find the top model Revel speakers best in the world. Nor do I find them value for the money. I agree that there are more expensive offerings, that perform much worse.

    This is sad.

In this utter shitshow, I'd just like to let the world know that I think the HD600 is a very understated headphone.

    That is all.

After my experience with the Infinity Prelude MTS, there TOTL speaker at the time and then all 7 mid-range drivers crapping out, and Harmon USA , same manufacturer as the Revels, claiming repeatedly that nothing was wrong with them, but Harmon Europe replacing all "defective units" for free, I personally won't touch another Harmon product even if you gave it to me. Not to mention both amps going out on my Infinity Intermezzo 2.6 bookshelfs. High price. Q.C. went to hell.
Sorry for the derail. Any mention of Harmon makes my blood boil. Once a premier company. Sad indeed. Please continue on about the K812.

Well, the Denon is a Class D amp, so it debatably undergoes amplification and then goes through a DAC. (I say debatably because the Wikipedia article on Class D amplifiers argues that it's a misconception that the PWM signal is digital, and I'm not an audio engineer and don't know enough to have an educated opinion on it. And even if we consider PWM digital, the amp still has to convert the input PCM or DSD into PWM, so it's not like it's not futzing with the signal in the "purely digital" part.) Class D amps have been around forever, but they've traditionally sucked. The Denon is using a new tech from Qualcomm aimed at making Class D's not suck, or at least suck less. It's an interesting technology -- someday having Class D amps that sound as good as Class A or AB ones would be nice for a lot of applications, particularly if you need power efficiency -- but it's not the Digital Jesus that this guy (and Denon's marketing) make it out to be.

As of 2011. This was before Samsung bought them after Mr. Harmon died. I'm still wary.

Imagine if you had a DAP from Demon that was this good, and you bought one, it would be your own Personal Digital Jesus!

Edit: damned auto correct. But I'll leave it.

I'm beyond "high-end" speakers. I just do weird non-conventional designs now. More interesting.

OMFG. Greatest term ever coined on CS/SBAF. Custom title activated for @nithhoggr

Good. He needed a custom title because every time I see his name it looks like "nuthugger"

Get a Koss KSC75 and never look back.

I am serious. that is better for your health and wallet. Right now the HD600 and a tube amplifier keep me happy.
