This thread is about posting recommendations of good albums you can listen to while working. For me this means no lyrics, because often I'm writing and I need to hear the voice in my head. I need good recommendations...

You can use the spotify uri links in the spotify search bar to go directly to the album.

    I'll start w. 3:

To the sun and all the cities in between - city of the sun

Tag Eins Tag Zwei - F.S. Blumm & Nils Frahm
    spotify:album:1GiZCxzoFZqoc8JlgLTmYF

Stravinsky: Pulcinella Suite, Apollon Musagète & concerto for strings in D major (but specifically starting w. track 10, or Apollo)

I'd recommend anything by Tord Gustavsen (http://www.tordg.no/trio/) - minimalist Jazz. Great background music for work or a nice dinner at home.

Edit: Looks like there latest album (I have not heard it), has vocals.

I guess it depends, but Kind of Blue does it for me:

These two albums of video game theme song covers by the London Philharmonic Orchestra are my go-to's if I'm trying to get work done and don't know what to listen to in the moment. They are on Spotify/TIDAL, but youtube link to #2 is below (which I find to be a tad better than #1)

    No lyrics is key.

Minimalist stuff that last forever is great. Which means Philip Glass.

Glass is good, but started annoying me after a while. Nils Frahm, and Bill Evans are my other piano go-tos.

I love this to bits, a towering genre-defining bit of ambient:

    - Preferably the original version rather than the remaster. Has odd tiny snatches of speech woven in quietly, but no actual lyrics..

The second, ambient disk of this is really nice, too:

    This is also great:

    ..also, frankly, THESE:

(second one is Selected Ambient Works Vol 2, which I love to death)

Have you ever listened to Jóhann Jóhannsson? One of my faves..my favorite albums of his are And in the Endless Pause There Came the Sound of Bees, Orphée and Fordlandia. Also, I enjoy Slow Meadow and the Brambles album Charcoal. Oh yeah, Ólafur Arnalds is another good one.

Recently I have been a fan of BadBadNotGood and Boards of Canada. They are both mostly instrumental arists, but with a catchy lyrical groove. I can't have something too repetitive or I will get sleepy and the jazzy/electronic style of the above work quite well. They manage to be complex enough to keep me interested, yet still simple enough to avoid distraction.

If I do get a bit tired I will go for some Black Sabbath (how can War Pigs not make you want to get up and shred some air guitar?) and if I am a going crazy I will relax with some classical.

Kora (a kind of harp) music from Mali, beautiful and exhilarating.

Just put it on in the background or something. It's bassy, ambient, and evil as hell and rather repetitive but not bad.

I start everyday with an hour of Bach.
    This one always works. Always!

After that initial hour, it's just jazz the rest of the day.
This one gets way too little attention in jazz threads on forums:
