Did you guys know that different amps and stuff can make a pair of headphones sound, you know...different?

You mean solid state amps are no longer all equally accurate?

I'm completely baffled by his comments on the staging & imaging versus the 2000x.

In his early videos he appeared to have a fairly objectivist stance and was on the fence about tube amps, colored DACs were an absolute no-no and the ODAC was your absolute end-game. Interesting to see how he has very quickly gone in the opposite direction here. Now in his latest video we see all kinds of tubes and talk of amp/headphone synergy.

He still spends most of his time talking about everything but sound quality though, I guess that will persist through his review 'career'. That and his ever increasingly daring anime wallpapers.

I think he's biased with how he's encountered them before. Personally it took me 4 tries to really like this headphone and the 4th try was when I bought them. I disagree on this review entirely. It's not for everyone but you really have to consider the pairings and whatnot if you wanna get the most out of it. The HD800 is THE headphone to own if you're in it for the long haul.

This belongs to the funny/lol thread. For a pure objectivist, situation normal, all fucked up.

Wow... two minutes and I experienced sickness... for the reviewer hateful manners but mainly for the trembling POV shooting.

I'm guessing he wasn't so fond of how accurately the HD800 rendered his weeaboo music.

Honestly, this review is a tough sell here. Many of us have been through the trenches with the hd800 and ended up discovering a formula that made that work (or not). It's just that there's not much useful information for the audience that he choose to show it to.

Most of his audience are Redditors that only have experience with the M50X or other entry tier headphones. He just has a personality that some like for whatever reason.

I do believe this was posted here for the purpose of mocking it, rather than informing anyone.

not really any need to get all bent out of shape about this guy. the reviews are entertaining to watch.
you might say that he is punching a bit above his weight by reviewing the HD800, when he's usually focused on mid-budget or "hidden gem" low-budget cans like the SHP900 with a pad swap.

in any case i enjoy the presentation. if you find his stuff fun at all, it's interesting to see the HD800 through the zeos lens. if your'e upset about it, you're taking this shit too seriously.

when i've written reviews, i don't even attempt to review higher-end stuff. I know i don't have the experience or vocabulary for it.

I appreciate his reviews; he just tells it like he sees and hears things, with no added bullshit.

In another review, he said he couldn't hear a difference between a multibit bifrost and another dac, yet he had a different experience with multiple amps feeding the HD800, so it's not as if he's approaching his reviews with an inherent confirmation bias.

I don't see a problem with talking comfort, build quality, and cable quality equally as much as sonics-- they're all just as important.

Reading through this thread so far has given me a great laugh. I find it hilarious how the tone of the comments have been, barring on almost defensive as if you guys feel threatened and feel the need to attack the guy for no reason. As quirky as his reviews are, I tend to respect his opinion more than the majority of audiophile reviews you'd find on this site or head-fi that are crammed full of loaded words and wild claims. That's the same reason why he's developed such a following on youtube and reddit, because the average person can appreciate and understand the thought process and approach to his review style.

I mean, I have had positive and negative reactions to Z reviews. I also think he is trying to refine how he talks about things, I just don't think he is there yet. I do however think the POV style and talking about the physical build and experiences with gear that way is fairly novel and does add something that most reviews do not. I just think he isn't experienced or adept enough to express what things sound like well. I've been watching since the early days and I my biggest complaint is how much he suffers from "New Shiny Syndrome" he does seem to be working on that though.
