Headphones either distract me too much, or completely disappear and I don’t even notice the music is playing for a while. The separation from the speakers seems to allow me to enjoy it without losing as much focus.

@ChaChaRealSmooth If I recall correctly the pair is not the 'super saiyan edition' aka v3, according to my internal revision notes it's a v2.2 which is one revision behind v3.

Yep, why I mostly use a DAP now adays as it solves the LPS and also USB issue.

@ColdsnapBry What DAP are you using? Are you streaming to the DAP or playing only local files?

I've said this about cables. When I first heard the difference myself I wanted to cry (not out of happiness mind)

I bought a Aeon 2 directly from Headamp since I really liked the Aeon. Their return policy was 60 days which was great. I listened to the headphones for a few days and decided it wasn't for me. I sent an email telling them I wanted to start a RMA and they asked "Why!? What's wrong with them?". I told them I didn't like it. Then follow up email made me feel like I was being interrogated for a crime.

Maybe you were supposed to select 2 day even though there was a cost associated, which would have been zeroed at the end of checkout….but then, maybe you were supposed to read minds ;)

@crenca - Mind-reading would come in handy, ha. I definitely wondered if I missed something, so I double-checked before reaching out. Turns out, they offer not just 1 or 2 but *7* different 1 or 2 day shipping options for that item - none free, and ranging from $17 to $96. Honestly, a simple explanation or apology would have gone a long way, but from what I can tell, that's not how they handle business.

I think they captured the vibe well. I wish they had kept the environmental music from Fallout 1 & 2. It’s got a little wokeness, but that’s unavoidable these days.

As far as plot goes, it is stronger than the latter Bethesda games.

Really liking it so far. It’s refreshing to see “heroes” that are morally ambiguous, in a world where moral ambiguity is all that could possibly survive.

Not much bothered about either of them, but tried Rebel Moon Pt1 the other week, out of a vague desire to see something with spaceships, and was actually surprised how bad it was. Or, not even bad, really, but just a giant... nothing. So many resources, so little effect. I half-watched up to the "climatic" last battle, then turned it off out of boredom.

I have to admit, I really like what Resolve and team are doing (or goimg to be doing) with their compensated df targets with zones instead of just a line.
I'd very much like to see them do more than just fr, I mean, you already have the tools... why not add thd, imd, csd measurements? It costs you nothing to add them too.

It's why, as much as I have no shortage of respect for the work Crinacle and Resolve and all the others have done insofar as building a library of useful FR traces go, that's the extent of the respect I have. Maybe we're all wrong and getting /better/ FR traces will render CSDs, burst decays, impulse responses all useless after all. Who knows.

I highly doubt that. Fr+phase/ir is enough to perfectly model a minimum phase system, and you can extrapolate csd from that, for example, but good luck trying to see those effects which are easily seen on csd/bursts on fr plot. Also, thd/imd being useless is quite the opinion fo have...

I'll take tight transient response and low distortion. I can always add a sub to a 2.1.

It depends but ideally, I need 2:
- tone - not FR, but traits of sound
- realistic transients - much harder said than done because not all instruments have tight transients

excusable:
headphone extension - can't over come physics
low distortion - distortion can be made to sound good. see electronics in music.
good spatial - very nice to have, but can succeed with ok enough spatial. see hd580/600/650.

Tone, transient response, low end extension. Spatial cues would be next, distortion last.

well, several flare ups later they might have it under control now. It started slowly, the owner was able to tell my neighbor she accidently left the gas grill on after cooking last night - she admitted she had it pushed up against the house! House is a total loss, even though the walls are still mostly standing. I will have signifcant smoke stench in the house...

Dreadful. I guess that is what domestic fires are about: one simple mistake. And all is lost. What the flames don't destroy, the water does.

I'm very sorry for them, and for the poor woman who has to remember a not-turned-off gas grill for ever.

maybe i'll sit down and listen eventually. don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming anything on it being pop music, more so that I just don't read many (any?) music reviews that are as intently focused on the meaning of somewhat insipid lyrics. Maybe it's just folks mistaking vagueness for ambiguity?

What are you hearing? If it’s some kind of buzzing it might be a hair touching the diaphragm.

It's buzzing that sounds exactly like the Focal driver exertion issue to me, but here it's only happening at about mids and higher. Low mids and below it's fine.

Happening on Piety, Vali2+, and a few small amps my friend had when he borrowed them for a few hours. Not happening with SW51 and Stellaris.

Investigated amp power source by swapping sockets around and removing stuff from surge protector to no avail.

Turns out it's most likely a weird power issue I'll have to investigate further.
