Shit, Yello's latest album dropping next month. Latest single, "Waba Duba" is pure Yello action.
Today finally unpacked my EARS since I moved to Philly. lol. Too lazy to measure stuffs...
Don't feel bad, I still have shit that I haven't unpacked since I moved back in March.
Corresponding with a new friend from sbaf who is not only generous but great to talk with reminds me to not take this community for granted!
Just ordered a 2.0 hybrid toyota chr. Pondering about paint protectiin film and if it's worth it. Very expensive stuff.
Generous Friends sending me DT880, NDH20, Emu Teak, Verum 1 all for experiments. Love community building this way! Will post all findings
This front baffle of the speaker I am assembling today is insane, about 1.5" thick of solid aluminum
Tip rolling is serious business. On my CX300s every tip give a slightly different sound. Now I start to understand the IEM-folk...
I've got my foot in the door of a few audio worlds, but IEM's really hit the sweet spot of ease and cost of adjustment for me. Great devices. Wish I could swap the rooms of my 2CH system as easily as I can roll tips.
Sony's new Orfas toy: https://www.sony.com/electronics/speakers/sa-z1
I like its appearance, too. Very sleek looking.
I don't quite like tons of marketing words though -- on top of cumulated disappointments of their recent highly-priced products.
Funnily enough Sony asked us if we wanted to the NA launch of this speaker the middle of July. Obviously not happening now, Sony doesn't have an ETA for NA just yet now.
It does look interesting but doesn't look very practical for a desktop
Two months off for shitposting so much.
He liked The Verve's early music. He is not that bad. Psychedelic Britpop is an acquired taste.
Tin HIFI 2 Plus arrived
Please say hi to the fedex guy for me
I'm currently working on an open back mod for my TH-X00. It's looking good so far. https://imgur.com/a/xNUhdk8
I see. I'd be willing to absorb that risk (have a source for extra cups at fairly low cost), but if you don't want the liability, I understand! If you need help with the tuning, hmu
Hey, as long as you know the risks, and are OK with it, order up a set of those grills and when they come in, hit me up. We can work it out then. Oh, I'd order at least 2 sets or more. I ordered 2 and 1 set came in scratched to hell, but at least they are sending out a replacement set. Continued...
As for tuning, I just might hyu for some different material ideas once I listen to them. I've got to get some glue to attach the black part of the grill to the surround and then the surround to the cup. Once it's good and dry I'll swap the cups and give them some ear time.
Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings alternate ver! I am hyped. https://www.brandonsanderson.com/the-way-of-kings-prime/
Between this and retconning stuff in Words of Radiance I'm beginning to develop continuity nervosa. Eh, cheaper than interconnects unless we're talking beautiful, limited-run prints.
Headphone/IEM modding projects mean there's plenty of gauze bandage & micropore tape handy when somebody falls off a bike.
....did someone fall off a bike?
Mrsdegraded. Aside from wounded pride, injuries were luckily limited to a few bruises and a grazed knee.
Ouch. Good that it wasn't anything serious
Sadly, one of the used The Kinks LPs I ordered on eBay was a pop and crackle monster!
When I read 'Kinks LP' I immediately think "warps!".
Not even software could save it. Automated removal not adequate, and I don't want to spend hours doing it manually. I ordered a brand new LP. I'm only out $11, so not horrible.
$11 was the roll of the dice for buying used on eBay. The new LP cost $25 + shipping. :-|
I’m trying out AirPods Pro. I already have the original AirPods and I’m trying to decide if these are worth the cost of the upgrade.
In my experience the fit is really hit or miss, but I have no problems if I'm just going to do some rowing in the garage. For jogging they stay in 95% of the time, but that last 5% is a PITA. The AirPod Pros were great in my open floor plan office for reducing the unwanted background noise, but these days they're mostly relegated to phone call use.
I like the standard ones more. If we ever go back to how things were before and I start riding the train to work again, then I’d consider the Pros. I think the standard AirPod design is brilliant.
Well my wife wants my OG airpods so I’m keeping the pros. I have had issues with the OGs staying in my ears at times, even when not doing strenuous activity, so the pros win out. I still wish they were cheaper though, especially since they have non-replaceable batteries so I basically have to buy AppleCare to be able to get the inevitable replacements at a lower cost down the line.
SW51+ hype train makes big sad *stares longingly at my dead SW51+*
What happened to it?
Get over it Tom Hanks, streaming is the future
For a second I read that as "screaming is the future"
@ChaChaRealSmooth screaming is the present.
I think the man can be disappointed.
Hooncake's biggest fan
I don't need my own slice, I am the slice.
indeed you are the limburger slice
Dr. Hoon is the man
RebelAmp just came in the mail. We will see how a discrete class a amp from a Ukrainian start up sounds.
Thanks to @Hooncake post I have an IFi Iphono3 on the way!
And here's hopping you post about SW51+. Anyway, what happen to your Russian phono pre?
It’s great, I plan to do write up about my budget phonos after I get Iphono 3
