I'm sure a few people will sell on HeadFi pretty quickly.

    Got an update just now

"We have received the first batch of our HD 6XX order and now have 1,450 units on hand. Fulfillment for these units will begin on Monday and should wrap up by Tuesday. Once orders begin to ship, individuals included in this first batch will start receiving emails with their tracking information.

The remaining orders are scheduled for delivery to our warehouse soon and still on track to be fulfilled by 12/15.
    "

The first 'unboxing' video posted here at SBAF had better be very clever, and/or very ironic. Or I will be sadly disappointed.

The HD6XX reveal is already over and everyone now knows that they sound the same as 650.

So what exactly is the point of this thread? Unless its point is to become an delivery update thread :p

Or, more forensically, the precise locations (as established via macro-photography and LumaLite) where paint is flecking, chipping or worryingly dull.

You're absolutely right guys. Let's just keep this focused on what serial number everyone got.

I'm happy to report that my 6xx clamps about as strongly as my hd600. Imo that's important as you need good enough clamp to get that sub-bass extention and also low overall bass distortion and cleanliness. I know as I've played around stretching out my hd600 then stretching it back in. It makes a very noticeable difference. Innerfidelity's measurements had me worried (google: "6xx innerfidelity" and "hd650 innerfidelity" and notice how the 6xx appears significantly more rolled off and a bit more midbassy). I don't want to comment on sound, I'll leave that to the pros, but I really wanted to bring attention to clamp! And it's not just the bass. When my hd600 were stretched out, highs got... stronger and slightly glare-y, but that can also be percieved as extra air, some might prefer it. So experiment with pressing your headphones into your head slightly or maybe pulling them slightly away for like a minute. Or at least keep all this in mind when comparing your 6xxs' and hd650ies, guys. Thank you very much, merry xmas.
EDIT: Together with all that I said, I'll add that the sennys just sound more damped with more clamp.
EDIT 2: When looking at them measurements also note the distortion graph and the 30Hz square wave response.
EDIT 3: Maybe also check out "hd600 innerfidelity". Kthxbye glhf

The color is matte black. In natural, bright light I can pretend I see the tiniest hint of blue, but...the color is matte black. The Sennheiser logo on the headband is sublimated almost to the point of non-existence. It's basically semi-gloss black over the matte. 'Subtle' is one way to look at it the logo treatment, 'Why Bother' is another. Frankly, the stock HD650 is a much better, more expensive looking phone. I guess as it should be!

The cable is much too short for my usage (about 56") and apparently, if the angry Massdroppers are to be believed, shorter than originally specced. I don't care, I was going to replace it anyway with a stock HD650 cable, or maybe make my own with some Cardas litz.

I guess I was hoping for more of a blue color, but I'm not even close to disappointed, more of a 'huh, what happened there', and then putting 'em on and plugging them in. For 200 bucks you get the feel and sound of brand spanking new HD650s, and have a relatively inexpensive vehicle for trying out mods. No disappointments. ;)

Got mine today. Haven't had a chance to spend too much time with it yet but sounds great stock so far. The bass/mid bass is quite refined and I really like that though the bass doesn't extend as far as my K7XX's did. Alison Krauss's voice sounded really fantastic on +Union Station Live. Soundstage is about what I suspected so far. On Beck's Heart is a Drum you can definitely hear the increased plankton on the acoustic guitar. Sounds really nice and crisp. That's about all I've had a chance to listen to so far. Looking forward to more. This is all through USB -> a meh DAC -> Vali 2 -> 6xx with a mix of FLAC and MP3.

I know I have made fun of HFers for turning their threads into serial number sharing fests but I found it interesting that my set had a serial number that was GREATER than 5,000. I assume that MD worked it out with Sennheiser to deliver more than 5,000 after that cluster of a drop.

I am interested if anyone has compared HD6xx to a newer HD600 with pads in identical condition (IME they make a huge difference, even slightly compressed with give a boxy sound). I've spent the last couple of days going back and forth (wrote a bit in the other HD650 thread), will elaborate more in a couple of weeks, don't want to sway anyone's opinion.
