for loaners, post canada has never charged me taxes if shipped within canada.

Id also be more interested in trying headphones, but amps would be nice as well!

Hey guys, Toronto here. Definitely down to meet up in the area along with sharing my gear for people interested in trying them out. Here's what I have right now:

    Headphones: Alessandro MS1i
    IEMs: Campfire Andromeda
Earbuds: VE Monk (original and plus), Shozy Stardust
    Source: Geek Out V2+

Interested in either trying out headphone or source gear (moreso source gear). Looking forward to seeing whatever we set up!

Well first thing please remove Black Diamond from my inventory...

Second thing is that to echo Mikoss I'd rather have some cans/IEMs instead of big ass amps. Preferably from a Canadian dealer.

Excellent to see we have this much interest so quickly.

Really the only Schiit gear I'd be interested in is their Multibit offerings, be it Mobi or Gungnir Multibit. Or Mjolnir.

@Mikoss seems to have an excellent understanding of the logistics involved and I'd also like to echo the sentiments of cans before source gear.

Do we have a current list of Canadians retailer who we could reach out to for loaner sourcing?

Sorry for the random request but I am wondering if anyone at Toronto is willing to help out. A certain someone is selling a pair of noise cancelling headphones (N90Q) at kijiji, and he does not like cross-border shipping (I am at NY). Would anyone be willing to facilitate? I have been looking to get the cans for a while. Have missed at least two opportunities at prices better than his current offer, but still want to grab this chance if someone here is willing to help out.

    Thanks!

I've got a big heavy Wolf Ear Makoyi SET amp (along with a lot of tubes) for review that I might be able to convince the manufacturer to send out on a loaner tour.

Other lighter things that I'd be willing to send out:
    Schiit Modi Multibit
    Nuforce HEM8 (iem)
    Celsus Sound Gramo One (earbud)

On bringing things to Canada... Winnipeg is the worst port in the country according to conversations I've had with both UPS and FedEx, due to the customs office here being a training centre. The best bet for bringing anything in would be someone in Toronto/Vancouver or wherever that's near the border and can do a run to a shipping depot on the other side.

This is not the place to be asking for favours.

To @peterpangea I encourage you take a look at this member's (as well as other's) post history before agreeing to favours for other Randos.

It looks like most people would prefer to try headphones / IEMs over source equipment for the first round of loaners. That's fine with me.

    My thoughts:

    1. It'd be best if the first loaner item is compact and not too expensive (<$500), in order to keep shipping simple and minimize risk. Maybe an IEM like the Campfire Audio Orion, which is available for purchase in Canada, would fit this bill?
    2. Dealer loaners are worth looking into, but I don't think they'll be receptive to loaning out their equipment for weeks at a time without benefiting in some way. I can ask, though. Manufacturer / builder loaners seem like a better bet.

Orion is not a bad choice at all if there is interest in it, though I've already owned it so I will take a pass. Headphonebar is the Campfire dealer, I don't know how interested they would be but it doesn't hurt to ask.

The SBAF loaner for the Orion is coming to a close shortly, perhaps we could get a Canadian one going before it's sold or buy it at a discount.

100% agree manufacturer loaners seem like the way to go. If I put my businessman's hat on, I'd think I'd need to convert at least 2-3 cold leads through this in order to make a free loaner worthwhile, as that's one unit they're not gonna be selling at retail. We probably need to gt a good volume of people on the review tour before pursuing this further.

Franadians, what are you guys interested in? Orions? Something else? I count 7 of you who are Friends/contributors. The rest, I think, would have to be vetted somehow (maybe vouching?) for participation. We've had loaners go up into the north before, but never for long circulation. Never had enough people interested to warrant that. It's always been quick ingress/egress in the past.

@Huxleigh, tagging you since you're interested in a Wolf Ear Audio demo unit/loaner. Maybe this can start in the north. Who else is in Canada in terms of companies? I can only think of 2-channel people: Resonessence Labs, Bryston, Sim Audio, Classe. Almost forgot Neurochrome.

We should tread cautiously in managing manufacturer expectations when it comes to loaning out gear. Some companies get it, what we do here, some don't. I prefer us funding our own gear so we're free of the burden shills must feel.

@barelyincollege, can you put a poll up? Maybe others can throw out candidate headphones, IEMs, etc.?

PS, the list in my signature is not up to date right now. So don't go off that. It's 80% close, but some of those loaners are closed, and some that are open aren't there.

@Mikoss, do you want to start the Stax tour up in Canada? I know you were planning on coming to the US soon, and possibly of shipping out then? (PS, I know I owe you a thread, sorry I haven't put it up yet, will do.)

Happy to do what I can to help manage a tour of @WolfEarAudio's wares in the US. I doubt that I'll be the only person outside the North interested in hearing one of his amps. ;)

Oh, didn't realize @WolfEarAudio was here. I was also interested in hearing one of his amps. I'd love if he would be willing to set up a loaner!

As for the Stax, @sphinxvc- they are actually down in Cali with Marv :) No rush to set up the loaner thread. I am happy for as many friends as possible to give them a listen... basically, I figured they would be a cheap/easy way for people who haven't had a chance to try Stax to give them a listen.

Guys, I have the @WolfEarAudio Makoyi amp sitting next to me right now. If we want to do a tour, I'll chat with Andrew and set it up.

I'll soon have the new Ec designs DAC NOS R2R. If they accept, I could add it to the loaner program in canada...

their previous DAC, the mosaic T, replaced a reviewer Rowland aeris 12k dac and he also prefer the Mosaic T to the Metrum Pavane among many other DAC.

    can be interesting

I'd also love to try ZMF's new Eikon or Atticus.

I have yet to try any ZMF products due to how cost-prohibitive their return policy is, so a loaner would be super helpful.
