Well... Audeze did something similar with LCD-2 drivers...

BA line array, by my calculations, for 6' x 2' speakers, you only need 345,600 BAs.

With a Knowles SFWK you do get 104640 BA's for each panel, for a total of 209280.

Since it's actually 2 drivers per package, that's actually 418560 diaphragms.

Guess it'd be sort of like having thousands of small mice coughing trying to get a hurricane going.

How about a CBT36? Ti Kan has a fantastic build posted on his forums. I'll dig up the link later if no one beats me to it.

    Ala suicide by Grado.

Probably sharp enough your corpse'll have holes riddled in it.

Rick Craig (Selah Audio) has designed a whole slew of LAs, both pre-built and kit form.

Well, there's enough of them that if some of the drivers fail, we won't notice.

I have two pairs of the 4" Fostex drivers. Maybe a stack of those and with some series / parallel wiring trickery, make a speaker with a 12 ohm load which would be easier for the SET or PP tube amp you are working on. A four inch hole saw works perfectly. A solution that could compete with horns in terms of macro / lack of compression / low distortion, but yield less "horny" sound.

Maybe not a full LA, but something like this:

    M
    M
    M
    T
    M
    M
    M
    W

T can be a ribbon isodynamic like this http://www.parts-express.com/hivi-rt2c-a-planar-isodynamic-tweeter--297-406 to prevent weirdness in vertical polar response. The HiVi tweeter can be crossed over very high up. Maybe 6kHz since the Fostex 4" are so well behaved.

BG's NEO3PDRs are super nice for the money for that type of implementation: http://gr-research.com/neo3.aspx

I'd have to dig for the datasheets, but polar response is excellent, and GR has some .dwg files to cut some better waveguides somewhere...
