Its a very Chinese thing to do, sizing your wallet up as you walk in and treating you accordingly. That store in Taipei worships at the altar of Craig iirc.

    Ancient Chinese wisdom say:
    f**k Confucious, f**k Mao.

Maybe we'll send the loaner Utopia to Asia and then Europe. The store then will size you up appropriately. Likely great match between BA and Utopia. That BA should have the Cinemag OPTs that dirctly replaced the Electraprints.

The store is likely being protective of the EC gear. They don't get that many amps and margins are slim. Like so slim that non Asians wouldn't bother.

I've been in contact with them. They have the newer one.

Honestly, they worship at the altar of Craig correctly. He's f'ing brilliant. There's no one like him in this hobby.

I spoke to Marv about the Studio Jr. extensively the past few days and exchanged some back and forth with Craig and I think you're looking at something epic. This will probably be the amp most people wanted out of the Studio.

Hi, I am new here (see introduction thread) and I am willing to try a schiit combo for my lcd2f.

I want a a small headphone system that has a few great qualities and, as this won't be a main system, I don't care not having all qualities nor having some weak points. For this reason I do appreciate your graphs and would rank my priorities as such :1 rich timbres and nuances, air (plankton & microdynamic ?), 2 live and energy of the musicians (speed & macro dynamic ?), 3 scene (never heard with headphone) and subbass

I am thinking about the following combos :
    - schiit modi mb and vali 2 : cheap so risk-free
    - schiit modi mb and valhalla 2 : optimize the plankton and nuances
    - schiit modi mb and jothunheim : listed limitations of the jot are maybe not critical with both modi and lcd2 ?
    - schiit modi and elise
Difficult to assess the synergy with the lcd2f. Di you have any recommendation ? (Also other combos)
Also worth mentionning : i have some nice Telefunken E188cc left from past games, would maybe not make much sense to buy for vali and vala, but as I have them, maybe worth testing ?

    Thanks
    Marc

Modi Multibit and Jot might be a good combination given the LCD-2 is generally considered a dark headphone. There is a control and liveliness this combo provides that is hard to beat, IMO.

I also did really enjoy my HE-6 with the lowly Vali 2. There was just some magical synergy there. I wan't always trying to analyze the music, I just listen and enjoyed it.

Yeah, I kinda figured that. The lady who owns the place kept giving me the eyeball as I asked for more and more Schiit to try. She easily had me pegged as someone who was likely using them as a gear library and wouldn't spend $ there. That's OK. It's her store. EC is way out of my league (financially and sonically), so no big hurry to go back for a taste.

However, if the Utopias end up in my neck of the woods I'd happily waltz in asking to try them out with the BA ... |\/|

BTW, how is it that so many of you who don't live in Taiwan seem to know so much about this store? Have you all been to Taipei some time in the past? Next time anybody drops in, do let me know!

Thanks, maybe I should try both the Vali and the Jot. There is an rca output on the vali so I could even use both in parallel ...

Once you reach audiophile level 40, you receive floo powder. Also a lot of the users here appear to be from Taiwan.

It is a pre-amp output, so not really.

What schiit amp can you recommend with ba in ears? My ciem, vision ears ve6 are some oft the most sensitive in ears (122 dB/mW, 20 Ohm (1 kHz)) and with them I can hear hiss, noise etc. with almost every amp that I tested, only two acceptable amps were idsd micro (with iEMatch) and hifi-m8 (with ie mod). Any chance that I could use my ciem with any of the schiit amps?

If you have the money, for this hardware, Geek Out v2, v2+ or newer might be just the thing. Or perhaps Leckerton Audio products. Vision Ears are unknown to me though, so synergy might be unexpected. (Or the headphones may be way worse than the portable DAC/Amps mentioned.)
Both of the amps have near 0 Ohm output.

Alternatively attach a 330 Ohm resistor and use any amp designed for driving full size headphones. Expect tonality changes if you do so though.

Whaddya'all think's better, the single-ended out in the Mjolnir 2, or that of the Vali 2? (Output power differences aside.)

First, I should mention that I've previously owned: Mjolnir (first version), Asgard 2, Ragnarok, and Vali 2. I currently have a Lyr 2. Anyhow, looking to pick up a Mjolnir 2 soon. I will be using HE-560s balanced with it, and eventually, likely HE-1000s V2. However, I also have a pair of Ocharaku Flat 4 Kaede II IEMs (single ended only, unless I attempt a fairly heroic mod), which I very much enjoy. Perhaps I should hang onto the Lyr 2 to use with the Kaedes, as the Lyr would also eventually also serve as a preamp in an eventual bedroom system.

By the way, I figured it would be in line with first post of this thread to not bother to mention which 'phones would be used.

Vali 2. Why pay extra for Mjolnir 2 to run it in Vali 2 mode?

Why indeed. But that's not my plan. Thanks for weighing in, but please don't assume that the puzzle that I'm attempting to solve here (with the limited funds I currently have) is that simple.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I'd also be using the Mjolnir 2 to power Hifiman cans out of the balanced out. I also happen to have some highly resolving IEMs, which excel at certain types of music so tremendously well, that I couldn't justify keeping my KSE1500s. My (balanced) two channel system and desktop systems are nearly combined, as both are in our living room. A local guy is selling a really nice, former-flagship preamp from a certain company from Boulder, so I'm Dbating betwen: picking that up, getting a Mjolnir 2 to double as a preamp, or attempting the Freya. And so on. The lousy Canadian Dollar, duty; "lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta whathaveyous".

I look forward to a pivot point-based amp with tubes.

Most IEMs I've tried, including all BA designs, had hiss out of the Mjolnir 2 SE out but no, or acceptably low (andro), hiss out if the balanced out. I can't speak for Vali 2
