The stamper on this is the first pressing, AB-1006 re3, @insidious meme told me. This pressing sounds glorious, having heard it in modest and megabuck systems. Some vinyl is just like that. Like Mercury Living Presence or RCA Living Stereo before Dynagroove.

This is what's kind of amazing about a really fantastic recording on vinyl. Somehow, it will transcend whatever system you put it on and just be great. Sure the truly fantastic system wrings more out of it, but a modest system can't hold it back.

Not sure if the NAshville Skyline was a fold down, I think I was listening to that mix in cassette, too, now that I think about it. I remember wearing it out, then buying the vinyl, and surprised by the mix.

I have to start digging out my jazz pressings in the house somewhere, now that the rig lives again. My most favorite pressings for some of these took me years to find, I remember. Still have to find a decent deep groove Sidewinder, though.

The Sony Dylan mono collection stops at JWH, as do the MFSL mono reissues. I suspect any Nashville Skyline mono mix is a fold down, otherwise it would be included in those releases.

I'm curious if any of you guys listen to Blackfield. I'd preordered their new album (the 180g version, not the picture disc) and the release got pushed twice. Its close to the ship date now but there's a leaked version online and I havent heard it yet. Want this to be my first new album listened for the first time on vinyl experience :)

I ran into a problem. My turntable is too fast. IDK why. I took out all the junk, but I left the original motor and placement, the original belt, and the original platter. It may have been too fast before though IDK, I didn't really use it. That's a shame. Not sure if there is any way to slow it.

Does your table run at both 45RPM and 33RPM? Maybe you're playing a 33 record at 45?

it does, but it's on 33. When I switch it goes faster. And it's just a little too fast. A 4:23 song was 4:00.

If you like Billie Holiday, I'll let you know how this one turns out:

I was looking for this LP last weekend and had to settle for No Beginning No End from Blue Note instead. Finally found Yesterday I Had the Blues on Discogs. The digital is fantastic, and based on how well NBNE is recorded, I highly recommend both. It's what you listen to on an evening you want to unwind.

Even on an inexpensive setup, some things sound absolutely amazing.

A friend of mine bought this new and the record itself had issues, it had some residue on both sides that could not be cleaned off.. he returned it and got another bad copy - looks like the pressing plant had a bad batch and they just went along with it. I'm hoping you were luckier?

This just showed up from music direct after a near 4 month wait.... (they needed to print a final run of boxes)

Kinda tempted to flip it on eBay for $400 (yeah really) but I think I'm gonna keep it. :)

Hmm. Yeah mine was okay, did have some residue though. But I bought it from Europe, not sure if that's a different version?

I noticed I promised to report back on the Jose James record above, it was pretty nice, if I had to pick between the two I got it would def. be YIHTB.

Currently spinning this, if anyone is shy about getting into Brazilian music, this is a perfect start!

Took advantage of a birthday party in the city my little 'uns attended today and dragged them to the record store afterwards for a minor binge. Sadly not playing them yet as I'm waiting for my AT33PTG/II to arrive...
