I think all the Shure models that take those wax guards fit a Comply 200, so the nozzle would be smaller than the Andro's. Plus, the Andro's 3 ports go right out to the edge so the ring of adhesive would likely cover them a bit. But they still might be worth a try.

Mine are finally shipping! Let's see if these are worth all the praise or will get me a disappointed "meh".

Don't have much to A/B compare them with in terms of IEMs now, except the SE846 and maybe the Sony XBA-Z5. But if they're that good, going to check how they sound next to full size cans.

Any one have suggestions for a high quality and durable, balanced cable for the Andromeda that won't break the bank? I don't think I am going to survive with the Tinsel...

Tried searching, but terms are too common to be searched.

Yeah the tinsel is a tangly mess. I have a 2.5mm trrs balanced from impact audio (on etsy) and am very happy with it. It was somewhere around 80 bucks.

It's ergonomics are similar to the CA litz wire that is the standard SE cable for Andromeda

I contacted ALO audio about the 3.5mm TRRS options and am waiting for an answer.

Did anyone - besides Marv - ever order the the Litz or Ref-8 cable in 3.5mm TRRS? It's not an option anywhere, and they only provide the Sony 4.4mm as an accessory.

Thanks for the suggestion! I came across Impact Audio during my search, and have been interested, so it's good to hear you like yours. I wish ALO would include the option to add a 3.5mm TRRS to their stock cable for a nominal fee. I'd probably be happy with their stock Litz cable with the 3.5mm TRRS termination. Oh well!

Also, I just received the iEMatch. Currently smiling ear-to-ear as I listen via the balanced output of a GO2A using "FRM" filter and the "High" attenuation setting on the iEMatch playing music from A+ running in integer/direct mode. I think this might be the best I've heard music sound from an IEM...or any headphone for that matter.

I could have sworn I saw someone here in the last week or so explain how you can get ALO to do any termination by buying their cable and a connector in the same shopping cart, but I couldn't find it in a quick search and don't have tons of time right now to keep looking.

    Was it @Torq ?

ALO will absolutely do this, and I'd assume @PoochZag is referring to this post in terms of getting a custom cable from ALO (you can also just call them).

There's no separate 3.5 trrs connector we can add in the cart. I emailed ALO for that.

Got and answer but they had it backwards: they told me I could either select 2.5mm or add the Sony 4.4 in the cart. This is NOT what I asked :p

Probably since there is so little 3.5mm TRRS stuff out there. @KenBall any possibility of a 3.5mm TRRS?

The Tinsel has the 3.5mm TRRS option.

I'd like a Litz or Ref-8 with TRRS, though.

Who is the most hiss-prone among us? I'm trying to find a list of a couple daps or portable amps that are hissless with the Andromeda, but I know hiss is a fairly personal thing... I'm crazy sensitive to it and I'm sure some of you are too. I'm actually considering the Andromeda but the presence of hiss is making me nervous... I'd like to see what a good pairing is going to cost me as I make my final decision.

Anyone got some data or informed thoughts on the likely longevity of the Andros? Aside from outliers like nozzles coming unglued and paint getting slightly worn on the corners, I haven't heard anything that makes me think these won't last 3 years or more (my mental minimum durability threshold for spending close to $1k on something like this). What about moisture? How much moisture does it take to reduce longevity of these?

Sort of worried how the drivers will deal with condensation though. Water tends to gather at the tip of the aluminium bores after listening.

So I got an iEMatch to run straight out of an HTC One M7 to reduce the hiss at low volumes ... setting is high on the iEMatch. No external DAC/amp used. Something is definitely lost. Hiss is gone. However, the sound seems muffled or blurred throughout, but perhaps especially at the lower end. Is the expected tradeoff?

Initial reaction is I greatly prefer not using the iEMatch adapter and dealing with the hiss.

Pretty much my observations exactly. I have not really pinpointed it to the lower end but the "magic" so to speak is definitely gone. Interestingly, it isn't as obvious when I use the built in iEMatch with the iDSD Black Label which makes zero sense because it is almost certainly the same circuit. Not brave enough to take it apart and find out.
