Nuprime makes their own, and there's Anaview/Abletec too. There's a couple more who's names escape me, and in general are not well known since they are almost all exclusively oem work. In the pro world you also have Powersoft and Lab Gruppen doing their crazy things.

I also forgot Abletec, but the point stands that the companies that actually do class D are rare and thin on the ground.

No question - though I think Class D gets unfairly bashed without folks taking the time to really listen. I'd put my Pascal based Class-D amp against any Class A amp I've heard, unfortunately a lot of folks just refuse to consider the possibility that class D can sound good.

Marv has the Nuprime IDA-8...I'm very curious how that review will look.

I have one. I think it's good for an integrated with all the hoohahs, but it's not a reference type of sound. The tuning is deliberately on the warm 'n easy side, and I believe the analog input is digitized before going through the chain.

Interesting new monitors: ART RM5 (pricing not set, but probably $500/pair)
    http://artproaudio.com/studio_monitors/product/rm5/
I don't think I've seen side radiators on monitors before, and the flat profile and room correction modes are intriguing.

    much better photos here:

Looks like an Edifier E10 (with them dual side rads) taken to studio monitor levels. Won't have the tightest bass.

JBL's new 705p and 708p look really interesting, too. I've heard the 705i (non-powered, "require" Crown amps or BSS processing; I heard them with a BSS unit) and I was really impressed.

(I've also heard the 708 in a JBL Synthesis demo, but it was only with movie content.)

Ouch, but at $1k for the 705 vs $150 for the 305...

For the 705i model, $750 or so per speaker and an expensive (and loud-fanned) Crown/JBL Synthesis DSP-amp, or BSS processor + amplification. IMO, the best home option is the fanless BSS BLU-50 (cheapest new one on Amazon is $1425) and amp of choice. But honestly the sound is competitive with anything I've heard at that total price.

If there was furniture-finish "JBL Synthesis" version of the 705p, assuming it's as good as the 705i with appropriate processing, I would not hesitate to buy a pair for our bedroom and a pair for my study.

Here´s an update to my previous SBAF exclusive Genelec scoop!

    (1) The new 8030C has already hit the local market here in Finland. Still only available in very small quantities though - they don´t seem to be in mass production yet. The new class D amplifiers on the 8030C are 50 watts per driver (used to be 40 watts in class AB). The product I´m waiting for, 8020D, isn´t available yet. Link: https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/pro...0C-aktiivinen-2-tiekaiutin-tummanharmaa-1-kpl (2 units in stock right now)

    (2) It seems like Genelec is also updating their consumer products ("G Number"). No idea if this includes the entire lineup, but there´s already an updated G Three on sale here as well: https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/53096/hsfnb/Genelec-G-Three-v2-aktiivikaiutin-1kpl-musta (specifications seems to be a placeholder; no info on watts/driver etc.)

    (3) There is still no news whatsoever about this on the official website. I think they are waiting for some upcoming pro audio event to announce these (that´s how they usually handle new product launches).

I'm using a pair of Ascend Horizons in a nearfield setup, though Dave F from Ascend would disagree that they are nearfield.

I've always had a preference for 3 way speakers; but could always hear the separate drivers at that distance. The symmetry of the Horizons seem to overcome that. These really sound like a point source. I couldn't be happier with the setup, 60w drives them to ear bleeding volume my desk. The RAAL tweeters are special with a very sweet sound that isn't as directional as I expected.

I don't expect to upgrade this system (famous last words).

    Excellent, keep us posted.
I'm still thankful for the scoop. Now even more prone to wait with potentially new G-series coming.

Wow those seem like some pretty big speakers for the space. Also the angle on those seems pretty extreme as in they are much closer to you than to each other causing you to toe them in so much.

How does this work out for you? Obviously you sound happy with the setup. Did you have to tune down bass to avoid bass buildup in the small room? Does it sound like stuff is panned too hard left right without a great center more like you get on headphones?

I recently remodelled the room and am still playing with placement. A small room in a log home is about as bad as I've ever seen for acoustics. The speakers are directly pointed at my seated position, right now. That gives me a lot of flexibility to roll around without affecting the sound. The speakers are big; but most of that is the 4 woofers.

Imaging is uncanny. Using the HD Tracks high-rez version of CS&N, you can hear Graham Nash moving from left to right as he's picked by Crosby & Stills mic. It's an album I've been listening to since it was released and it's almost creepy with new detail and imaging.

Anyone here ever heard the ProAc Tablette? (there seem to be a gazillion versions of these, but there's a local guy with a "Tablette 2" for $500)
