Probably my last attempt to make friends with the P1:
    * Thin piece of teabag strip, dipped in alcohol and doubled over on the nozzle with bit of space on both sides, comply on top
    * Wearing them opposite to MEE's recommendation - start from cable down position, put cables over ear and lean the P1 inward a little; better comfort with comply deep inserts.

    Let's see how this goes...

LOL. They are totally different sounding from SE535. I thought I tried to convey this!

I had issues with getting a deep enough insertion. The nozzle was too shallow for me compared to anything else I've used. In the end, I gave up and used large sized Comply (I use mediums with Andromeda) to have them sort of stuffed in my ears. The Comply do tame the stridency in the mid-upper treble, but the mids/ upper mids are still, well let's say Audio-Technica-ish.

If you have a chance try the opposite to Mee's recommendation on wearing the P1 like i described in my previous post - the sound seems more balanced from my brief test.. this is such a weird earphone, so sensitive to different positioning

I used an #11 Xacto blade to slice off the tip "overhang" on my Comply's (trimmed them pretty much flush with the plastic barrel inside them). That helped a lot to reduce the sensitivity to positioning.

I think you probably did just fine with your description- it piqued my interest enough to try them.

I was hearing something a bit more pathological, either due to a fault in the units I had, or some weird acoustic disagreement with the inside of my ears.

Different is great, I don't want a ton of headphones that sound the same; I like different. Horrible, on the other hand? Not so much. This isn't about whatever people were hearing in normal operation, this was awfully brain-piercing sibilance of an impressive sort. It made my ears ring a bit, and put me off listening to music temporarily.

A shame, as until then, I'd never been terribly treble-sensitive, but it acted a bit like aversion therapy.. I'm still a bit nervous of trebly headphones sometimes now. Evil!

I've made good friends with Pinnacle P1 after some adjustments: The main prob for me was insertion and discomfort (resulting in treble peak also) used normally with cable down; i fixed this by turning them anti clockwise until the cable comes up and looped it over my front part of the ear - so essentially the wrong way round from Mee's over ear instructions, resulting in comfort with deep insert comply tips; this mostly got rid of the sibilance, but I also applied tiny strips of teabag on top of the nozzles which further flattened it, and now the sound is smooth and quite neutral to my ears, and I do think they shame a lot of other IEMs in this and higher price range.

I've owned these for a while, but typically have kept them at the gym and haven't really evaluated properly. I brought them into work to give me some variety, as I currently only have my custom K10's to pick from.

I'm really impressed out of the ZX2. They have a really nice natural timbre, and general fine sound that really does nothing wrong. I do hear that 2-4k emphasis, but its more of just an emphasis to me that really brings out certain instruments like drums and electric guitars, so I've been leaning towards these for rock based genres. They definitely don't have the quick clarity and resolution of Jupiter/Andro or the deep textured bass of Lyra2/Dorado. But for less than $200 they really do no wrong, great for listening while working.

Yes, I'll echo all of this.

I've had them for nearly a year now and I've grown to appreciate them more over time rather than getting tired of them as I often do with my audio toys.

I play them straight out of my V20 on the go and my Vali 2 at work and struggle to find anything to criticize (at this price point at least).

Same. Bought them due to Head-Fi hype and I almost puked when I heard these with the silicone tips... Just awful, painful and harsh.

Comply tips increased isolation and tamed the treble, but they tamed it TOO much imo... Sounds dull and congested. Also the soundstage is completely fucked up. Everything sounds like it's been streched out in width.
40€ Vsonics VSD3S sounded better tbh. More realistic overall presentation, more neutral, more detail etc...

Still might keep these since riding a bus almost everyday the isolation these provide is just amazing and the relaxed sound with comply tips is kind of nice to listen to after a long day. Also decent comfort when sleeping.

Will have to try some different tips at some point as they do make a HUGE difference in sound indeed.

I was wearing them and as I was taking them off the left foam tip along with the nozzle itself got stuck in my ear...

Turns out the nozzle itself was only held in place by a tiny bit of glue so yeah. Stereotypical Chinese manufacturing quality for ya.

Hopefully getting a refund. They showed a glimpse of promise in technicalities, but nah..
I will rather get something like VSD3S again which cost like 35€ and sound better as well. (no weird DSP sounding streched soundstage, more balanced tonality etc..)

probably a stupid question, but if I want a change of pace from my etymotic er4s, would those be a good option?

Only if you understand that these sound totally different from the ER4S.

I've been using them for about a year. The first days were a total letdown for me. The bass was ridiculously anemic with single flange silicones. Switching to comply tips was a revelation is sound quality, but too cumbersome in practice. And also having to replace or wash them periodically is a minus.

The triple flanges were a nightmare for me before trying them with these. Sticking something that long into my ears was in theory out of question, but after seeing the seal and sound quality I was mesmerized with them after a few days. I admit the first few days were quite painful, but after getting used to them, IMHO they were the best tips in the box exhibiting the strengths of this IEM.

And... I lost them, since they don't have that much of a secure connection and they tend to fall off.

So unfortunately a few weeks ago the quest for ultimate tips started once again.

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Symbio N tips!

They do create a wonderful seal like Comply tips do, and since their foam is coated with silicone, they're much better hygienically. They do not drown out the treble like the comply tips as well, plus give the same amount of bass rumble you get with comply's without losing out the detail retrieval. They're keepers for sure and I cannot see myself switching to any other tips in the near future.

    Definitely recommended!

These sound great with the Walnut V2, or the Zishan Z1 for a cheap (<$30) dac/amp that's plug and play in windows.

I still feel like these sound better (near darn perfect) with the Walnut, but having the older model with no usb dac the Z1 is an alright alternative.

Back at the 2016 (?) NYC meet, I said these pair well with the Tralucent DacAmp One. I don't think I can say that anymore.

I've had them for over a year now and still enjoy them immensely.

Currently using them with the N3 and spiral dot tips. I could nit pick the sound but it's nearly perfect for casual, in the go listening.

Yeah, the tips make a huge difference for me.

Stock it's pretty bright, but using the Sony Olive tips tames it down a bit. Listen to them 8+ hours a day and haven't gotten tired.
