The Modi Multibit is the default value DAC here.

Don't forget to introduce yourself here so others have more to go on answering your questions.

My non-existent cheerios are fine as I usually skip breakfast.

I gave you a dislike because you a) pretty much didn't even read what the OP was asking for and b) asked him to introduce himself when he already gave background on his request.

I gave landroni a dislike because he a) contributed nothing to the thread and didn't even attempt to answer the OPs question and b) repeatedly tells people to introduce themselves for no real reason other than to garner likes and mutual adulation from other members.

Maybe my dislikes will help prevent you guys from engaging in this asinine behavior in the future. You can give me one in return if it makes you feel better. Should try reading this: http://www.superbestaudiofriends.or...f-important-message-to-existing-members.3670/

Not too many [edit: worthy] <$300 DACs, thought I'd point him/her in the direction of the Golden Schlong winner.

Saw he/she only had 2 posts, both starting new threads. Thought I'd direct him/her to the Introduce Yourself thread that has lots of useful info for newbies. And an intro post with more background would help others better answer future questions.

Yes, I've seen Marv's post requesting we stop asking newly registered members to post an introduction. It's not a hard and fast rule, and was posted during a time when people were going a bit overboard with it. I think I pretty much followed this suggestion:
    Sorry if that's being assinine.

    @k4rstar

My dislike to you is for engaging in hit'n'run dislikes, i.e. without instantly giving an explanation to the dislikee. That's asinine behaviour right there, as you seem to have an interest in these things.

I'm not sure if you read what I wrote, but I did not ask the OP to introduce themselves. What I did do was to point them towards the Advice Threads, where it is infinitely more likely for new members to get good advice without pissing off half of the SBAF members (and to simply catch their attention). That's what had been happening in the past, and I am trying to steer new users clear of naive mistakes.
I also pointed them towards the MUST READ rules for users unfamiliar with SBAF, as it was obvious they didn't do so (or didn't do so carefully). Well-meaning novices can get into a world of trouble because of this, so it's always a good idea to make sure they understand what is expected of them.
I don't expect brownie points for any of that, so no need to get worked up.

As for my asking users to introduce themselves, I'm not sure how much you tend to weight deep past vs recent past experiences, but ever since Marv asked people to stop systematically asking new users to introduce themselves I promptly complied like most around here. When I do ask people to do so, it's in cases where something is going in a very wrong direction: Either the person doesn't show any responsiveness to feedback from existing members and is one short shove away from the How to Influence Friends forum, or engages in excessive adulation for a product at which point the "shilling" question inevitably pops up in my mind. All within the intent of the rules as set out by the Supreme Jedi:
FYI, what @gixxerwimp did was fully within the intent of the rules of engagement:
And it was justified, to boot, as it makes sense to get an idea of the person's preferences and past gear before giving out sensible advice.

Just in case anyone was wondering, my "uneducated" answer was in response to this original question.
@k4rstar get your dislike finger ready :p
    For everyone else, ...

Hopefully. He gives great advice (usually) and I've benefited from k4's Music Corner. He also left a nice comment in my profile when I bragged about getting my first dislike.

I wonder why trying to view banned members' profiles results in:

Super Best Audio Friends - Error
This user's profile is not available.

Kinda like they got 1984 disappeared.

I banned @k4rstar per his own request via PM.

@gixxerwimp, no need to get worked up about it. My understanding is that @k4rstar didn't want to continue to log into SBAF. He has his reasons. People sometimes have asked for their accounts to be disabled in the past. It is what it is.

I did ask if he was sure, and he confirmed.

Not worked up. No conspiracy theorizing going on. Thanks for the explanation. By "or not" I was just wondering out loud what might have happened to result in this chain of events. None of my business in any case.

So the disappearance of profile pages of banned members is also at the request of the member?

It just happens when the member gets banned me thinks. No effort was made to make his profile page disappear from public view.
