The great news for those of us who have never had UERM: same price, so unless there was a change for the negative it's still all good. If it's better in some way, well damn. Extension up to 18kHz sounds good but we'll need to see measurements to understand the difference. More treble isn't good if it is fatiguing.

    Color me interested. :sail:

I hope the low end is tweaked a little-bit too, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

i hope not, I actually like the neutral bass of the uerm, if you want more just eq it up, balanced armatures are great with eq

UERM mid bass is perfect but I would like a bit more presence under 50hz, where it rolls off a little too quickly.

Please don't voice it like the NS10.

I for one could be very excited about these as I love my UERMs currently, but I'm definitely waiting on some impressions and things before I do anything crazy.

I for one hope they tweak the low driver to have less midbass.

If it sounded like NS10, no one would buy it.

warrenpchi on HF just confirmed with UE. The UERM is no longer available for purchase; its been discontinued.

I'm actually a little sad. It has been the holy grail for so long, I guess I always hoped to have a pair. Now, its gone.

I'm glad that I have mine too. It's totally possible that UE or Capital screws this one up.

Yeah... I'll monitor this one very closely. If nothing else, it may make a 2nd-hand UERM purchase more enticing for me.

But if it beats UERM, then I'll have to find a legitimate excuse not to go UERR + GOv2 Infinity... :D

    From Warrenpchi

    Now that's interesting...

Oh and the UERM is discontinued. I'm not sure what the RR is meant to do if it's not directly replacing the UERM.

Ditto, got mine in the last Massdrop event. UERM was first available in 2010 so I'm cool with the evolutionary product refresh.

If it turns out good I'll pick up a pair of UERR and keep the UERM at the office since they are great for a work environment.

I wonder if they would offer an upgrade program, considering that the main change is the high frequency BA and the suspension system.

^I truly doubt there will be any upgrading of current earpieces as that is basically a complete rebuild. (I know from discussions about prototypes and helping people get repairs. It is major surgery to dissect earpieces- gotta remove faceplates and then to get drivers out that are glued into shells?)

There might have been some kind of potential discount for repeat customers in the community, but since they are rolling out at the same price (which is really nice), I would guess that your best bet on any discounts for a long while will be a meet or show discount. The pricing makes it easy for us existing UERM customers to consider the UERR too. But, if I hear of anything, I'll let you know.

Disclaimer/Background: Been too busy with family and work to be able to work with UE anymore, but I used to be the Head-Fi/Online Community "Ambassador" for a couple of years (had all the demos plus helped place orders). This came out of resurrecting the Bay Area Meets from 2011-2014 and loving my UERM. Right now I just struggle to enjoy all of my good gear and hang out with fellow gear/music-heads.

Imagining the chaos at the UE display at Can-Jam Costa Mesa in March is making me crabby. I'm interested in hearing the new version, but only under reasonable listening conditions. Damned if I know when that opportunity will present itself.
