    @Torq
Out of curiosity did you compare the Eitr to the ISO-regen?

I jumped on that boat with the lps-1 and feel that it is doing very good things for my current backup DAC (Geek Out v2A). Although that is throwing 650$ on a 300$ DAC ;) it gives better soundstage, greater deliniation of instruments and much better micro-detail retrieval.

My regular DAC (Geek Pulse xfi ) has a faulty USB interface so I will probably buy an Eitr regardless.

I'm curious if there's been any improvement/trickle down to the Wyrd since it's release? My dac is a pro audio interface which needs usb for all it's functionality and recording purposes.

    I did not.

Partly because I didn't find any benefit to the old "USB Regen" when tested a good while back (either at all, or vs. much cheaper options). Partly because I don't have an "ISO Regen" to play with. But mostly because I think "audio devices" that take USB in only to spit USB back OUT are truly f'ing silly - unless you're trying to address USB reliability/functionality/insufficient port-power issues. And those can be addressed quite ably with much cheaper solutions that don't come complete with suggestions that you then spend the same amount again on a dedicated power-supply (the need and rationale for which goes away entirely if you just did the isolation properly in the first place)!

This would be such a great device to bring along with a laptop for auditions as well.

That is fair. But it works for me :) I will compare the two on my incoming Soekris 1541 and Geek Pulse xfi (if I can get the USB fixed)

Oh that Kramer guy again ;D

I could do a really cool vid w/apple pencil talking & animating... they made the usb section irrelevant! I think (going by a pic only.)

Forget the laptop. Bring your phone or tablet! Since it's self powered you don't need to worry about excessive power draw.

How big a difference is it with the Lynx card? Is it worth getting a Lynx over Eitr?

Leave the gun, take the cannoli. ------ Kinda had that vibe to it.

^ and my pic above... seems 95% of the USB debates are over the *green* line! :D reclock packets, async, noise this, all in an attempt to make the CM6631 or whatever (XMOS) work a bit better! I don't even *use* USB & I'm getting sucked in!! Haha!

Won't have mine until tomorrow. I was summarizing the points thus far, not my own.

Given how they're reviewing it, though, it's well within the <5% better realm to step up to a Lynx/Rednet over an Eitr. Between my ESI Juli@ XTe and the Lynx E22 there's maybe a 5% gap (the Lynx being better) with my setup. The Lynx is definitely better, but this is complete idiot territory in the audiophile spectrum.

If the Eitr does what it seems to, going deeper down the rabbit hole only has value for those with golden ears or fat wallets and no sense. Or an addiction.

I started going really deep down the rabbit hole with Rednet, Lynx, expensive amps and dacs, expensive headphones, computer optimizations, linear supplies, power cleaning, reclocking, and on and on.

When I had some financial crap come up, that was my opportunity to go cold turkey and remove all of the good stuff from my setup apart from the HD650.

Now I'm creeping back in and have a much better understanding of where I'm willing to go for my own setup(s).

Work: Decent amp for IEMs, decent DAC, good isolating IEMs, inexpensive USB -> S/PDIF converter (thank you, Schiit, for making the Eitr available before I bit on a Singxer again)
Home: Good tube amp, good R-2R NOS DAC, Sennheiser HD650s, clean S/PDIF solution (yes, I want a Lynx E22 again, but I'm not sure I'll allow myself to even go that far)

It is very easy to go way too far in this hobby.

Is the Lynx E22 or AES16e noticeably better than the Schiit Eitr in your setup? Find out.

For people in the USA, it's a pretty simple process.

Step 0: Find headphones you love, then an amp you love, then a DAC you love. Never go to Step 1 unless all of those things are true. Why would you want to improve something you don't already love by a small margin?
Step 1: Email Lynx and request a demo unit here: https://www.lynxstudio.com/products/demorequest
Step 2: Buy a Schiit Eitr and have it arrive in the same timeframe as the Lynx
Step 3: Compare. Spend money how you see fit. Can't tell a difference? Great, send that Lynx demo back and don't look back. Can't tell a difference between the Eitr and direct USB to your DAC? Even better, send that Schiit back home within the 15 day period.

My Eitr is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to doing some comparison testing.

I already have an Intona for the isolation, which is at least half of what the Eitr addresses. What the Intona does not do is provide a re-clocked SPDIF stream, but given that Yggdrasil re-clocks SPDIF and must clock USB data, I remain curious. One more day to wait.

I have an Intona as well... can't wait to see how the Eitr does tomorrow. I have a noisy motherboard and the Intona did it's job at isolating that. I hope the Eitr does it as well + a nice spdif to my Gungnir Multibit!

In this thread zerodeefex said Eitr is better and Torq said Eitr is probably better.

Plus, the Mutec is uglier (unless 1980s space program is the aesthetic you prefer) and 5x the cost of Eitr.

If you search around the site a little bit, the general consensus seems to be buy an Eitr. Or if you have too much money and audio nervosa, buy a lynx card.

Looking forward to shooting this out against the Singxer F-1 and SU-1 and the trusty old Audiophilleo on Friday. Can't read the clock brands on the board photo.

I am curious if they have enabled the ability to pass DSD or MQA.

As a data point on the question of "usb5 or eitr?"
    I am definitely getting usb5 for the Gungnir Multibit since I am already using the superior coax input for my CD transport;
I am probably getting eitr for my modimbo (unless I sell it first) because it will correct USB errors, and give an assist to the coax input.

M-Audio Audiophile 192 is great too. They come up cheap on the 'bay (one on ebay uk now, £20 Buy It Now, boxed and includes breakout cable!). The 192 is the best solution I've tried so far (not tried Lynx or Juli@) for connecting Gungnir Multibit to my computer. Would be interested in one day comparing it to USB Gen 5.

MQA is all about every person in the chain paying a license agreement, so who knows.

For DSD though, this isn't the right solution. Straight USB works fine for DSD as I understand it.

If this trumps the Mutec and the Singxer then it'll trump my DU-U8 probably significantly.

As usual, I gotta wait until it arrives in EU. Definitely bought.
