Updated since I moved into my new pad.

Still playing with speaker placement, while ripping a few cd's.

I aim still playing with speaker placement:

Excuse the mess....the big boxes behind the right speaker are what the speakers came in.

    Thanks, brencho!

Everything is working out great. The only pain is having to move my laptop from my office to the listening room to listen and back to the office to work. Soon I will have a streamer so that problem will go away. The speakers sound great as does Vidar. But, I really don't have anything with which to compare Vidar. Maybe one of my friends will bring one of their amps buy so we can compare. The speakers don't have enough hours on them yet to call them burned in. The laptop situation is cutting down on that. I am now starting to test different tubes in Freya to see what I like with the Vidar/Double Impact configuration. The Double Impact speakers go nice and low. 20Hz for sure but I don't know the db level difference from nominal.

Speaking of room treatments, is there any not to expensive way to check the response of the room? It's be so long since I had a 2 channel system I don't know what may be off.

I think something like a UMIK-1 is a well known starting point, but I'll let the experts chime in. I think Marv uses a UMM-6 from Dayton Audio, which is like 90USD from partsexpress

Very true! It's the only thing plugged into the wall :) I do have some circuit protection devices on the same line as the Pass from Blue Circle Audio called Yalu Bulala. Ugly as hell too!

Always like to see a touch in the wild! And you have Ted Smith's baby Dac!

The touch was so ahead of it's time, with 22/24 XO's, and the EDO plugin for 24/192 USB out.

It was child's play tricking it out with i2s & transformer/BNC output, just a great architecture.

And these days makes a nice controller to pi running the still thriving software!

@Scott Kramer now that is badas! I will have to look into those mods more as my SBT is now relegated to easy-viewing use as a clock for the living room LOL

Thanks! But modding it nah... you can go further now with a pi, keep in mind you can point it as a "controller" to the pi's... if you go that route!

So last night, the main wall in my dedicated room looked like this:

Tonight, after working until 10:30pm, I decided to make it look like this:

I didn't really have a whole lot of time to listen, but it seemed to be a little clearer. It looks way too bare now though.

A house without a turntable is not a home! But hey, my turntable is in the cupboard and is probably staying there.

The turntable, and everything else in that rack is still there. I just moved the whole rack to the left wall of the room. I would take another picture of that, but I don't really see the point; it looks the same but with no speakers immediately surrounding it.
