Foreword: The GR07X is a tweak of VSonic's highly popular GR07 model, sporting a more neutral signature and also marketed as having reduced treble resonance.

More-or-less dead flat even with 75ohms. No point showing a graph.
    Analysis
    • Nigh-perfect channel matching. Expected of VSonic.
    • Essentially the poster child for beautiful measurements (barring the 9k peak). Almost flat FR with a small 2k pinnae bump, neat impulse, stable CSD, low THD, unreactive to impedance...
    • The large magnitude of the 9k resonance peak is due to its close proximity to the GR07 driver's innate ~6k peak. Not saying that it should be ignored, but the peak may or may not be as bad (or in a different position) depending on your canal's physiology. Personally, the GR07X is definitely bright but not in a sibilant way, more akin to the UERM's sparkle.
    • Overall, a great all rounder. Perhaps one of the most neutral dynamic-driver IEMs you can get. If you're sick of the "BA timbre" of the typical multidriver reference monitor, the GR07X is a great alternative.

To those wondering how it compares with the GR07 Classic, here's some graphs taken from the IMM-6 database. Both measurements are taken at the same insert depth.

    Yellow: GR07X, Green: GR07 Classic
Less 3k, less 6k (the main culprit for sibilance I presume?); just less treble overall balanced out by less bass as well.

Hi, in the past @Marvey has mentioned that some of the treble peaks in his measurements of iems are artifacts of the measurement apparatus. To what extent may that be true of the 9khz spike here, in comparison with the second graph you posted?

If it's real, then the gr07x is a deafness device first, music device second (like a fair number of iems that measure with crazy treble spikes, some of which really seem to have them).

Great to see some measurements!. Looking for some good DD IEMs always seems to lead back to the GR07. The GR07X probably slightly better, but 2X the price of the Classics.

I picked up the "Collectors Edition" for pretty much the same price as the 07X. It is the GR09 driver in a GR07 body. Worth checking out if you are looking for a really good dynamic driver IEM under $200.00.

    EDIT: "Anniversary Edition" not "Collectors"

Probably not real, or at least not to the extent that the graph is showing. My rig has a resonant point of 7-9k depending on insert depth, but if I were to perform the measurements at reference plane, I can hit a 10k resonant point which is the same as what Tyll's rig exhibits. (Refer to Innerfidelity's GR07 measurements)

I would hesitate to call anything a measurement artifact to be completely ignored because there are certainly people out there with the right physiology that would hear that 9k spike. Others may hear 8k, some others 10-11k, all with different magnitudes... the higher frequencies are especially fuzzy on measurement apparatus because of how variable they are with different ears.

Also, you can argue that the high Q factor of the peak makes it less audible unless you have tracks that hit that very specific frequency for sustained periods of time. Also subject to your ear's unique resonant point as well, as stated above.

Marvey and Tyll have definitely said it before but I'll reiterate again, data above ~7000Hz is not reliable. Too much variation in individual ears to make generalised statements on the accuracy.

Yeah, "Anniversary edition". They are still available in Vsonic store on Ali (9 left, I guess). 183 with coupons is sweat, but I have doubts in their QC.

Do you know the difference between the AE and 07X? Where did you buy the AE? I can't seem to find the 07X anywhere now.

There is an official Vsonic store on AliExpress. You can get GR09, GR07X and GR07 37th AE there http://s.aliexpress.com/UZzABBJV . Also there is one on Tao, but I don't have the link rn.
GR07X and GR07 AE are different earphones. GR07X uses the same diaphragm as GR07 but with different tuning. GR07 AE uses GR09 CNT diaphragm, as i mentioned earlier.
    So they should sound different.

Thanks. Missed your mention above. Any idea on the difference between the AE and the GR09 plastic edition which goes for 100 less than the ceramic?

I haven't seen measurements of the AE yet, but I'm going to guess they are very close to the GR09 plastic. From the measurements @crinacle did for the GR09 and how I perceive the AE to sound - I think they are pretty darn close. They remind me of on all around improved GR07 BE with less sibilance.

The GR-07 is definitely a musical device first. Biocellulose drivers make it the most natural sounding IEM in my collection. The Classic edition doesn't bump the bass but the extension is there, impressively neutral until you hit the s̶p̶i̶k̶e̶. Accentuation after 8k is audible, but IME lifts the overall presentation of the mids more than it takes away from it. Reasonably durable but QC is definitely questionable, mine came new with the cable jacket popped off where the channels join the splitter, nothing some superglue cant fix but meh

Could you do this with the gr09 added, please?

I'm not sure if this is the place for it, but I'm curious you (@La Cenric) would compare the GR09 and the Acoustune 1551 CU. Both ranked on the same level (B+) on headfi thread. Another poster on the Acoustune thread said they're pretty comparable.

It seems like unless the IE800s is the goods, <$500 is the way to go for DDs for now.

There are now replaceable cable versions of GR07, both Classic and Bass Edition. Thankfully it's standard MMCX like Shure etc. Also on 11/11 the Vsonic store on Aliexpress is taking part in the big sale and the price reduction is significant. I was put off Vsonic by reading too many "sounds nice but the cable broke" reviews but in a recent promotion I bought the VSD1S for £11 ($14 US) out of curiosity. OK, it's very budget item and doesn't match my Shure SE425s or Sennheiser Momentums but it's thoughtfully designed, comfortable to wear and good enough that it made me think that these guys know what an earphone ought to sound like. So I'm going to chip the rust off the padlock, open my sclerotic wallet and try the GR07 replaceable cable edition in the sale.

The problem is not in cables. Just look ath their GR09 flagship shells

Even on Vsonic's own photos you can see that the ceramic body items have obvious joins/gaps where the two halves meet. My plastic VSD1S shells seem to be perfectly manufactured and assembled. Various online review pics of the GR09s show the same gaps. I assume that this is peculiar to the ceramic body. I can't see how it would be a major concern for the GR07 or any other plastic or metal shell product.

What is that in the second picture? Is that a reflection? Is there something cut out? Did you take those photos yourself? If not what is the source?
