Going off of memory (again, been a few years now) I think the HE-5/LE were tough to drive. Definitely not like the HE-6, but maybe more than the HE-500.

Yes, they all have the same simple design for comfort. Only difference is weight, which I found didn't make too much of a difference as I could only handle a few hours anyway.

I think this is correct, the HE-5 and 5LE need some power to drive them, but are not nearly as power-hungry as the HE-6. I do not think that the HE-500, 560 or other more recent headphones from Fang are as power hungry as the 5 & 5LE.

Has anyone gotten a shipping notification on there EF100?, I asked support about a possible shipping date for the HE-5 and they replied that they do not currently have a date.

You must work for Hifiman support. Good to know anyway, hopefully they get it out before the new year.

Nah, if I worked for Hifiman support, Jude would have gotten Fang to fire me for being here. ;)

Yes. HE-500, HE-5, and HE-6 have much bettter grip, slam, and authority from big amps.

No notifications on anything. Nothing from Audeze for LCD2C either.

Yeah, the waiting is pretty ridiculous. I can't tell if I was charged yet.

Audeze seems incredibly and suspiciously busy since Black Friday - bought an LCD2C as well as a second pair of iSine 20s (price was too good to pass up, f**k the fact they're refurbs) and have yet to receive a shipping notification for either; all I got was an automated email like a week ago saying "rest assured we'll get your order(s) out the door as soon as possible, we had an unexpectedly large influx of sales(...)".

I just received the HE5 yesterday (without warning). I think others will be getting theirs soon. But then I live in Asia, so it's just a quick in region shipment.

The shipping box it came in seemed a bit more sturdy than the actual packaging, which reflects more of the recent "lower end" HFM phones. The packaging has several stuck on labels identifying the headphones as HE5, but otherwise, the headphones look very much like an HE500. It seems HFM had cobbled up a set of HE5s from their parts bin, and repurposed available packaging.

Apologies in advance, but I don't really have time to open them up to try because I'm crazy busy. Hope you guys will get yours soon.

    An update:

Had a chance to open the packaging during lunch hour to do a quick check:

The headband is faux pebbled leather.

A velvet drawstring bag with a set of thick gray cables. For those wondering, yes, they're the SMC type.

The most interesting inclusion are wood rings(!) that I think you can attach to the headphones. And there are also the round thingies that go over the headband adjuster. These will look at home alongside the OG HE560s.

    My HE-5s arrived:
    - grey 1,5m cable with TRS 1/4" included
    - FocusPads-A are installed
    - not that much energy from 8 to 12 kHz, just a bit pronounced
    - 4 kHz peak
    - recessed 1 to 2 kHz range
    - great bass
    - the wood rings have cracks near the SMC jack.

The quality control issues with HFM have kept me from purchasing their stuff no matter how interested I initially am.

It comes with plastic cups. Consider the wood cups freebie throw ins.

In case anyone has been wondering about the shipping information, Hifiman has been updating order status without an email for new tracking information.

Unfortunately for me apparently my pair was delivered a few days ago, but is no where to be found. Wish they would have sent out a notification.

The drivers are different from just vintage HE5? Or from all other HE-series?
