If it's anything like the HD580, it'll be the best of the bunch!

Just saw the email myself... this is basically a hd600?
Jubilee was the transition from 580 to 600?

Sure. We'll call it the HD600S, then.

Let me dig up measurements. i think I have one channel (too lazy to do the other). Give me a bit. This isn't anything like the HD580 BTW. It's wholly different driver, possibly more similar to HD660S, but also different from that. Will have to wait until tonight for comprehensive set of measurements.

I think it would have to be a HD 610 S to be.. consistent in ludicrousness.

Yes...their blurb sounds very much like the 660S driver with a different tuning.

Not sure how much that would change things, but Jude's (always favorable to every new product) measurements suggest this is the brightest* headphone of the family with the weakest bass/subbass.

    * Note that the treble may only peak as high as the HD600 but the upper midrange leading to that peak is as recessed as the HD660S, so it turns into a big fuckyoumountBeyerpeak.

“Many of its parts are interchangeable with others in the series, and owners of the HD 58X Jubilee can benefit from the rich aftermarket and brain trust of modifications and gear matching—along with excellent long-term support from Sennheiser itself.”

    “brain trust of modifications”
Seems like they are reaching out directly to SBAF with marketing speak like that. :D

Just a few more minutes. Lost in thought on IR convolution routines and need to take a pee now.

These are preliminary measurements. I'll do a full L+R set tonight or maybe on Friday. Getting Focal Clear in today too. Only had time to do one channel - not hiding anything. I'm sure Sennheiser's channel matching is excellent.

Hm. Does the bass sound as flabby as it measures? I would have expected better, but if it retains most of the strengths of the HD6XX series $150 is still tough to argue with...

About on par for sub and low bass. HD58X does seem thicker and warmer. HD58X might be tiny more veiled than HD650. Measurements say less extension, but nothing I particularly noted, although I didn't low bass tracks.

Overall definitely a step up from HD558, a notch below HD660S. It sort of has qualities of both HD660S and HD6XX/650, but ultimately closer to HD6XX/650 in terms of how sounds are rendered - which doesn't necessarily equate to frequency response similarities.

HD660S is crisper and faster than HD58X. HD650 has better microdynamics and microdetail than either HD660S or HD58X.
