Did anyone else see that video where a youtuber pwned Noble Audio's savant? Link?

People have the choice to not buy if they can't get information from the manufacturer. As far as I know, Noble simply refused to disclose any details.

@proflitoto will be banned from this forum until further notice. Not for speaking out against Noble, but for thread-crapping, lite-trolling, general asshatery, and decreasing the signal to noise ratio. None of his individual posts constitute any serious violation of the guidelines, but taken as a whole, they do. Nope, the moderators are not stupid here. We don't want people with parent issues who continue to push the limits. He also happens to be at the top of the Leaderboard for reported posts. ;)

So what? They should just have refused to buy it. Problem solved. There's no end of alternative products out there to purchase. I thought they did the secrecy thing more as a sales technique than the fact that they were "hiding" something. Not like it was difficult to disassemble and find out, no?

I'm not going to bother arguing with you, especially after you address me rudely. Instead, I'm simply going to restate the facts and let others judge for themselves:

Noble commonly publicizes information about internals, but not for the Savant. Noble used gold screws that make it look like one of their more technically advanced products.

This isn't OverClock.NET. What's the point of technically advanced in headphones, as long as the sound was good? People thought it was a 4-6 driver per side IEM, and they heard it that way too. Doesn't that nullify the entire technically more advanced argument if it sounded the part?

No. Sound quality is total red herring in this discussion. What do their actions say about them as a business?

I think they're generally good guys who made a mistake, and I doubt they'll do it again.

I don't think they made a mistake. They took another approach (a simplier one) and probably discovered "holy cow, this is really good". They had to price it accordingly and put the gold colored screws on it. It's just the market and how "people" are dumb-asses in respect to moar drivers, etc. I haven't heard it, but I bet I might have been able to tell certain things about its internals.

I mean, you guys already know what a difficult time I've had pushing "cheaper" and "simpler" shit. If anything blame the market and the consumers.

Personally I'd rather have a UE4 than a Savant for $200 cheaper (based solely on construction) but everyone makes their own value proposition.

OK pricing: Businesses will base pricing on what the market will bear, not on cost of goods.

You may disagree with this on a fundamental level, but that's capitalism. This is America, baby, not red Commie China.

For example, Hifiman practically admitted they priced the HEK because that's what others were doing and people were going to buy it anyway.

There are a few audio companies that don't do that.

    Thank god for those companies.

Like Kap said above, HEK was priced just based on market. (hence the commie China comment, i was being ironicalistic).

As I've said from the beginning, they can charge whatever they like. That in no way accounts for their actions.

I think Noble was purposely dishonest about Savant. Purrin seems to concur, albeit with strongly mitigating circumstances that might actually be true (but excuse little to my mind).

I have absolutely no response to the content of your post, except to say how overjoyed I am to know that you are able to read mine and I now know that I am not on your block list.

I've just discovered that my HD650s actually have one single driver each side instead of 650 drivers. I'm so disappointed.

    - Practically, Noble's numbered line suggests moar driver = better sound.
    - Then if they disclosed Savant being a 2BA thing, it's almost destinied to be priced lower than N3 ($350).
    - Alternative universe: Savant was released at $300 and it went onto SBAF Leaderboard. I have little doubt on this.
    - The reality: hell why no do some higher end wannabe advertisement and make a shit load of money!
    - I personally think Savant sounds genuinely good. Overpriced, but not by a wild margin. I have no objection to any of Noble's business practice nor their pricing.

Having spoken with John Moulton about it, Purrin basically has it. There's no intent to deceive at all, just a feeling that the sound was good and merited a certain price without driver arms race considerations.

I don't know how Claritas became The Arbiter, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't want to be on The List!
