If its a massdrop collab, that mean one wont have the amp before months after "release"...

Marv heard them at a mini-meet a few months after I got them. No mods. He thought that I got a matched pair that wasn’t quite as peaky in the treble, and said they might not need much, if anything. It’s still fatiguing on non-classical tracks. That’s why I think I keep going back to the rug liner or just switch to the Paradox. Also the amps I run them with work do help those pesky peaks. I might not be as treble sensitive as I used to be. But not sure. The treble on the HP-3’s didn’t agree with me.

What if you happened to want an amp /just/ for the LCD-2c, and not for the HD800s as well? Something in the $500 range, would you go Jotunheim or stretch for Mjolnir 2 or something else?

I gotta listen more (and get time to reterminate my LCD to balanced) but so far I am preferring mjolnir2 to Jot, even single ended. They play to different strengths but the mjolnir2 owns the low end compared to Jot. I am still in a bit of a honeymoon especially with regards to the sexxxy bass, so this may wear off, but I keep choosing mjolnir2.

Magni 3 with spare change left over for hiking supplies and a hotel stay near Morro Bay or even better Zion in Utah. My priorities have changed. Kids are now old enough put Eggos in the toaster, beef pot pies in the microwave, or even make mac and cheese. Nope, mom and dad can't help you anymore.

They can do that, but remain somewhat fearful of the stove and fire. Fruit loops and ice cream do have some nutritional value.

agreed, Mjolnir2 was a really great sounding amp while i had it. and plays great with planars. if i had the funds i'd get one over the Jotunheim, but again it depends on headphone and budget and all that good stuff. Like, the Code-X sounded really nice from the Mjolnir2 and sounded totally fine from the Jot.

but the LCD2c so far seem more efficient than lots of other planars i've heard and i'm sure would work really well out of the Magni3 and the new upcoming mystery amp that @Marvey hints at. even though what i'm about to say will make anyone seriously question my sanity and anything else i ever say, LCD2c actually doesn't sound bad out of the ZD........ though might not be my first choice. Magni3 would totally work.

I just have to say, I wish my parents did this to me. It took a LONG time to be self sufficient. This is good parenting.

@Luckbad Did you try the LCD2C on project sunrise? How was the pairing? Until the mystery amp is released, I want a cheap amp that would do the trick. I would buy the Magni 3, but they have a 2-3 week wait now.

My dad was a single-parent and I was feeding myself, doing the laundry, and helping with other household chores in primary school. Cubs and Boy Scouts helped with being more self reliant as well as working well with others.

Roon’ve just added the LCD2 Classic to their Audeze presets. I’ve been listening to it for a few hours and I like it so far. The peaks are disappeared, but it sounds even darker to me.
    I added a PEQ with f = 500Hz, A = -1dB, Q = 0.10 with 1dB gain and quite happy with how it sounds now with almost any genre.

    I might suggest trying f = 1000Hz, A = -3dB, Q = 0.50 and then play with a LS f = 3000Hz, and cut to taste. This is based on my measurements.

Oh, that's just the stock frequency response. I missed that you were using Roon, sorry. I don't have the headphone or a way of using the Audeze EQ presets.

Here are my full measurements of @M3NTAL LCD 2C. These were done quickly since he just stopped by. Distortion is excellent, about as good as I can measure. Anything below 200Hz is ambient or AC.

No right distortion as it was too high

    Impressions:

I thought these were pretty good for the money but I'm not a fan of planar response or Audeze house sound so to most these are an excellent buy. Bass was clean but not as fleshed out as I thought it would be based on impressions. More laid back than Code X6 but less engaging than HD650.

I really don't know why Audeze got rid of the vegan pads. I much prefer the LCD-2C with them.

Here's a quick stock/leather vs. vegan pad comparison:

    LCD-2C Leather vs Vegan Pads.png

Yes, they do get a bit bassier and warmer sounding in that regard, but it's not a massive difference. They do seem to lose some extension but otherwise almost get you down to 20Hz. For almost all music, you'd be hard pressed to tell.

But the best part is how it almost entirely gets rid of the roller-coaster nature of the upper-mids and treble. The overall tone with these pads is actually really damn neutral. Yes, there's a bit of warmth, and, yes, the upper-mids could probably calm down a tiny, tiny bit (it's no HD600, thankfully), and, no, the still don't sound as smooth or coherent as the HD650...But I'm having a hard time thinking of a headphone that sounded overall more neutral than this.

CSDs show some improvement around 1KHz. Still looks kinda nasty otherwise. I think there's something weird going on with my usual in-ear measurement results with certain headphones as of late. Some look great, some come out weird. I wouldn't take this too seriously.
