That treble looks super extended for an IEM.

... if that were a 5db/division scale that would actually be very good

Real extension and smooth treble can only be had with DD IEMs

Marv any chance you could post an excess phase graph? I always find that interesting with BA IEMs as it's like a "coherency over frequency" graph. For example Andromeda has lower excess phase for most of the audio band than UERM.

UE iems tend to have very good extension, especially for armatures. The RR extended to 18k if I remember right; albeit shelves down a bit.

While many dynamics have great extension, very few have been smooth to my ears.

The UE18+ does indeed sound extended to my ears, but the pervasive warmth detracts from this, makes the air less evident. Ugh.

The timing reference is off. Let me show you how my REW plot looks

    EDIT:
    Here's UERM:

And here's the Andromeda (3.3 Ohm OI) for comparison:
    Andro FR+EP.png

Note how the phase weirdness only starts above 2kHz with the Andromeda, most likely because the crossover frequency is higher.
Single driver IEMs (BA or DD, doesn't matter) will have no excess phase at all. Perfectly flat, straight line unless something else is off in the measurements.

Doing it by hand in ARTA probably sucks. 0.001ms matters here.

Let me redo those. I didn't set the windows correctly.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd try ARTA for this one.

Well, to me that's true of DDs and BAs. Of course I've not heard everything, but the only IEM that has proper treble that doesn't sound like shit that I've heard is my RE-272.

Marvey, we can also guess the crossover from distortion and impedance plots, not that it really matters with these IEMs.

Not to go to far off topic, but for me, most Hifiman iems have pretty uneven treble. The 272 might have been their best in treble though. I’d have to hear them all again to say for sure. One of the smoothest, while extended and not shelved down trebles for me, was the Sony MH1/C. So much potential. Way too much sub bass. A great dynamic for little money non-the-less.

    UE18+ impedance (and electrical phase)

Explains why I preferred lower Z or zero Z sources.
