Here's my new VPI Classic 3 w/ JMW 10.5 tonearm. This has the periphery ring clamp. I have a Soundsmith Zephyr cart.

I kinda Michael Bay'd up the photos for you LA people. It's like the turntables of your childhood, only flashier and blue and orange.

Man, that table looks absolutely killer! Good score bud :)
My Eddie Current Transcription phono is in the exact same chassis...Craig really ought to bring it back...or maybe a newer better version with multiple phono inputs.

Marv, if you guys ever go down the path of a newer phono stage, please seek some input from the group regarding desired features etc.

I'll post a few pics of my tables as well to get this thread going...c'mon guys...I absolutely love turntables and love seeing member setups. I have a vinyl sickness that I've over indulged with, but what the hec! :D:eek:

I did not take this picture, but I have this same table, a Denon DP-59L

Again, not my picture, but I have the same turntable sans a tonearm unfortunately...I'll probably get an Infinity Black Widow for this table at some point. This is a Kenwood KD-500.

Not my photo, but this is what I've got: Ace Space 294/Ace 294 arm with optional heavy kit. I also have the Wave Mechanic. Shelter 7000 cart, Sutherland Duo Phono pre. I've also seen Nottingham tables fitted with Moerch and Graham arms, but I think the Ace arm, though perhaps a bit basic particularly in appearance, is a VERY good value as far as 12" arms go. Same with the up level Ace Anna.

Continuing the rather unfortunate trend of "not my photo," I'm 'fraid this will have to suffice for now: someone else's pic of the Kuzma Stabi Reference and 4point tonearm. This is my own setup, complete with the ZYX cart. This turntable is my pride and joy and the result of my no longer throwing money at every new (and old) headphone that comes around the corner. Hopefully I'll be able to take some pics of my audio gear soon; everything is a mess right now, especially since I came back from the hospital and can't do much myself at the moment.

Also mad props to everyone's decks. Those are some real lookers (unlike the rather fugly Kuzma stuff lmao <3 ). I have a soft spot for VPI, personally. If I were to get a second deck, it would likely be the new Scout Prime with the 3D tonearm.

I'm very very fond of the Kuzma turntables. I just set one up for one of my best friends who bought the Kuzma Stabi XL4 with a Kuzma 4 point tonearm and a second Kuzma Airline tonearm :) That Kuzma 4 point tonearm is fantastic! But you need to hear the Airline...what a tonearm.

Not my picture, but pretty much exactly like this:

I'll take great sound over looks any day, and the Kuzma tables definitely have great sound in spades. Except SME tables, those are pug fugly lol.

This is also not my picture but I've had my PS-X555ES in storage for a while. I keep contemplating bringing it out again.

Dang those are some nice looking rigs. Still need to properly set mine up-- there's no volume control right now, and I think the cart is picking up noise from the power amp next to it.

Hi MuppetFace, i am glad you got a turntable after your long search! And what a great deck this is, absolutely stunning and the sound is stunning too, ZYX are my favorites but cant afford the one i like (ZYX Airy3 R1000) , unfortunately...

Please tell me did you find any significant difference in sound between the R1000 and the Omega (i think you have the Omega in the picture) to justify the extra cost?

Thank you and may you enjoy this in good health!!! \/

Yes, it really took that many coasters to level the platter. Apologies for the weird angle, makes it look way worse then it is.

At some point I think Im going to re-organize the rack so Rag sits below the turntable by itself and then move Yggdrasil/TASCAM/phono stage to the shelf below. Need the volume knob/input-output select within arms reach.

    Thanks for your kind words!

I've never been able to compare ZYX carts side-by-side, unfortunately. I've heard a few different ones in different setups, but obviously there are too many variables at work to be able to say anything meaningful about how they compared. I will say that I've constantly been impressed by the way those setups sounded, and whenever I got to hear different brand carts on a rig, I often ended up preferring the ZYX.

I was able to get a good deal on a very gently used Omega cart, so I took the plunge and never looked back.

Seems like there are too few vinyl setups on this forum....this thread has slowed down to a halt almost! :)

I know there are more setups out there. Post em up and stop lurking!

That is awesome! I love the idler sound. Good for you.
Is that the MG-1 Linear tracking arm? How do you like it?

    Thank you!!

Yes its a MG-1, i have some mixed feelings about it.

Firstly you need a high flow, low pressure pump for it to work properly, and this is a problem if you want it to work optimally (i have an expensive Silair pump).

The hiss sound of the air is audible (although very slight it is there), especially during those low volume late night sessions, it is not something everybody can get used to.

Cartridge matching is rather trial and error and i have not gotten an answer as to with which cartridge it performs better, it seem that it doesn't like low compliance cartridges, and it favors normal to high.

I have tried with Audio Technica AT- OC9, AT- 33ev, Benz Micro Wood L2, Accutex 320 STRIII, Stanton 881S, Cambridge A&R77/Jico SAS, The better ones where the Audio Technicas to my ears.

A friend has used it successfully with a ZYX, and another friend suggested it also (due to the fact that ZYX have different vertical and lateral compliance), so my next plan is to go for a ZYX R100 Fuji, and see how that works.

Due to the fact that i don't have unlimited funds nor time, i have not tried all the possible combinations with all my cartridges, and i haven't used the oil trough, which seems to make a difference according to the manufacturer, i have it but haven't got to install and test (reluctantly not wanting silicone oil so close to the record).

With some cartridges it is prone to feedback, my larger Lenco is not placed optimally, but the Linn Ekos, and the Jelco/Rega don't have such sensitivity.

The sound is more "airy", detailed, and fast, but seems to loose out in bass authority, but the bass description is very accurate, mids are fantastic, high frequency extension is great, and it has a wide and high sound stage (all this compared with Linn Ekos, Jelco 750DB and Rega RB900).

I have two arm wands, the basic version (black tube) and the Ultra P (silver tube), i hear no difference between them.

This is not an arm for anyone, it needs meticulous setting and also additional outlay on a good pump, piping, pressure vessels, and time for experimentation.

The VTA on the fly with digital micrometer is cool.
