I haven't heard the Russian version tube in this amp. I liked the TS new with LCD2C (the one with the small treble spike).

Never liked any Russian small signal tube with exception of one or two specific 6922 compatible types, and even then... They all sound a bit off.

Phew I thought I was going crazy because the last time I heard a PM-3 it got disgustingly loud from even a phone output.

Best sales pitches ever. "It's ok" "Not terrible"

No need to use magazine quotes for their ads really!

Now I wish I'd paid attention to how long new products take to reach the Netherlands distributor.

Anyone have experience hooking up Modi MB to a pi?

Because that's essentially what I'd be doing here, right? Should work fine?

Based on the above comments, and data from this old post, I constructed a spider chart.

Seems that Lyr 3 is a very different product from its predecessor.

How are you connecting to the Modi? I'm using pi & 502DAC with a volumio front end. That's connected to the Modi MB via bnc to coax cable. Works perfectly and sounds great.

LOL. That works. Probably up the "speed" by 1.5 since I sort to split things up between lows and highs. Macro is about same as Jot.

Sure, that works, but the MB modular board seems to be a Modi MB with only USB input, so that's why I'm asking. :) (About the USB, yes, I should have specified)

Here is the updated version reflecting the above:

This clearly looks more consistent with Marv's enthusiastic statements.

Not sure you'd want to hook a Pi to this, as the USB is munged together with ethernet on a Pi board.

Fraggler mentions back on the first page of this thread:

This seems to be one of the advantages to keeping a separate Modi Multibit- more options for inputs.

I think that is the only reason I've held off so far...

It would be an Allo USBridge and not an actual Pi, so noisy USB power and IO lanes shared with network are not an issue, but I've read horror stories (here) about non-gen5 on linux.

1 box is a whole lot more convenient on a nightstand than 2.

Just want to know if it works or if I need a Modi Multibit, in which case I might pass, bedside space is very limited.

This is making me pretty excited about what they could do next with a Mjolnir sized chassis...

A speaker tap module for use with efficient speakers could be interesting. If such a thing is possible. I'm not an engineer. At the same time, y tho?

Well I would do it. But I'm not stupid enough to send it in for warrenty service if something blows up.

The 9w into 16 ohms makes me think this can work with 16 ohm guitar cabinets. Or Lowthers

That’s what I was thinking. Lowther or Fostex drivers.
