Two more changes. Plankton is +0.5, maybe +1 over Val and Rag - using Yggdrasil A2. Just a bit more nuance and extracts that last bit of low level information. Macrodynamics +0.5 over Jot.

Would love a comparison to Torpedo 3. If it's not too far behind T3, I will definitely pick this one up. :D

Can you redo the colors so there aren't three blue lines and one grey that all look alike?

Just a theory. Maybe the change in sound with the latest Jotunheims come from adding a constant transconductance output stage?

Yeah. Looks really good now and how I hear things.

That's pretty much it. It's no joke. Imagine a Class A speaker amp or a Magni / Vali sized version of this. Sure the vetted summit-fi stuff is still going to be better. But at some point, most people are going to be sufficiently satisifed, and find that money can be better spent on good quality beer, bourbon, weed, or hiking with friends.

Wouldn't that justify updating the performance of the Jot on the chart? Or maybe a description of how it changes the sound? Also don't they just need to put this into the current Vidar to make it "class A" while still being cool? Or would that require a redesign?

I wonder how the atticus would pair with the Lyr 3 ...

No module, but that's probably a better question for @schiit because I'd have no idea if the power to the module was turned off with the switch.

Having recently acquired a T3 (paired with Gungnir Multibit), I'm also super curious about a comparison. T3 (with good NOS tubes) is far and away better than any Schiit amps I've heard, but I wouldn't say my musical enjoyment has skyrocketed. It's almost more about intellectual appreciation of sound over any kind of improved visceral/emotional impact. I don't necessarily enjoy Steely Dan's "Aja" anymore with T3 than I did with Lyr2 when I owned it. But I can appreciate the subtle differences enough to feel comfortable with my purchase.

Let me be devil's advocate here : is Schiit becoming more and more the Beyerdynamic of headphones amps (tons of mid-fi releases with poor customer's readability across the range) ? :p

Or maybe a kinda nefarious intent from Jason to squeeze as much bucks as it gets from the average hobbyist who can't afford high-end stuff but"could do a little effort to get something above Magni / Vali range" ? :D

Does Schiit have poor reliability? I think they've done well in this regard given their extensive warranty period of 5 years for most products vs most vendors' 1 year.

They're probably closer to becoming (a, at minimum, aesthetically, better) Audio GD with a mind boggling spread of products with multiple functions and upgrades. ;)

Pretty sure they're also annoyed by the amount of different products they have to stock parts for!

I remember reading Jason thinking of dropping the DS Gungnir and Bifrost as easy targets there, and it looks like Asgard 2 might go.

Everything else kind of has a purpose, except mjolnir 2 looks superseded by lyr 3.

Anodizing is cool and would probably look a little better than cera, but its a bit more involved than cerakoting and not something that one can do in their backyard. Thats why I would first reccomend cera. The loss of th labels and logos is the only downside.

Does anyone have experience with a phono card module installed? How does it sound compared to a standalone phono preamp such as a Pro-ject Phono Box or Schiit Mani?

This Lyr 3 is a tempting upgrade from my Lyr 1 and if I do change it, I might take the phono card module and connect it to my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. I already have a Modi Multibit so the Multibit module seems a bit redundant and lacking in digital inputs.

My current config consists of a FiiO X5 II (used as a portable USB to SPDIF converter), Modi Multibit, Lyr 1, HE-500.
As for my vinyl setup, Pro-ject Debut Carbon, Pro-ject Phono Box, Lyr 1 and HE-500.

@purr1n This sounds like a good candidate for a loaner, even two might make sense to include Europe. It could take up permanent residence in the gear library after.

If nothing else, more folks will have a common baseline for good sound and more importantly value.
