Jitter? Different kinds of jitter between the DACs. Usually the case if the spikes are symmetric.

Flat soundstage and poor timbre were exactly my impressions of the D30, too, which I bought only to review over at SHF in response to Amir claiming it was superior to every single Schiit DAC. All I needed to know about the D30 was that Chuck Rainey’s magnificent bass on Aja sounded like a synth through the D30!

Of course, Amir responded dozens of times to my pan of the D30, repeatedly breaking SHF’s rules against debating subjective vs objective impressions, so the mods deleted the entire thread.

I bought a Topping D50 out of curiosity of the whole ASR deal and do not really like its sound one bit

But yeah. Feel me once, shame on me...

Seriously, he had to go on SHF and debate your subjective impressions with his badly obtained objective data? That dude has mental problems.

He also went on for about five posts about how @atomicbob hides behind an internet handle making anything he says suspect. Several Seattle area SHF memebers stepped in and vouched for atomicbob.

That would actually explain a lot of things if true.

I think think nwavguy is actually this guy: http://archimago.blogspot.com

Archimago (according to Wikipedia) is a sorcerer engaged in deceitful magics from The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser.

Either way, I think it is funny that no wonder Amir started his own forum. All the other places he is trying to start something, he gets shut down for causing a ruckus.

Nah, not the same writing style. I think Amir is nwavguy but sprinkles in adjectives used by someone with English as their second language to throw people off.

I still think that NwAVGuy was more inteligent and cogent, and even more grown-up than Amir. Even if he was absolutely wrong.
Archimago is way more intelligent and better informed than Amir. And way more open-minded.

Amir the Whipped Aerated Cream Topping man: actually all gas and no substance.

Agreed. I would never confuse Amir with Archimago.

However, if nwavguy had to reinvent himself...we never know.

Amir's MO is the same as nwavguy's:
    1. Find target to attack to support his case.
    2. Utilize faulty comparison.
    (1) Attack AMB Mini3 to show superiority of Objective 2. (2) Mini 3 was truly portable and only used one battery and lower voltage. The Objective 2 had a larger footprint that was more transportable than portable to allow x2 batteries.

    (1) Attack Modi 2U to show superiority of Topping D30. (2) Modi 2U measurements were improperly conducted; measurements taken compared to D30 were not comprehensive and appear to be opportunisticly selected; all this ignoring that the FFT measurements for both DACs were well below thresholds for human hearing (because if we are going to be objective, we should just be objective, and say they are both perfect to human ears.)

Not only that, his posts in that SHF thread were his first on SHF! So he seemingly began participating on SHF specifically so he could go into a thread about Schiit DACs and link to his posts on ASR crapping on Schiit’s products.

Actually, it was a thread about Schiit DACs that’s totally gone except for a few stray Google Cache pages: http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...age-2+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=safari

No way Archimago is nwavguy. Archimago has some good content, such as his critiques of MQA and his posts on differences in DAC filters.

Could we call this something like a straw-box method of arguing? Probably Amir falls into all the false-logic traps (I won't read his posts to research: once was enough) and then adds the corporate-man techniques of say-it-often-enough, and just-keep-mouth-open-making-noise. In fact the worse things about the guy are that he never gives up; he never goes away. There is no antibiotic that can cure this disease: he resists everything.

OK, so I did see one of his posts recently, in the rather sad context of the death of a regular contributor to another forum. In a way, he is trying to say something decent, but his absolute ego has no concept that he was up against a better brain(s) and a better-informed man (or three)...
Amir is not a bad looser: Amir is a can't-looser.
