If you are going to send it back to me for extended testing, I'm fine waiting until then and passing on the 14th-21st. Saves on shipping costs.

I'm happy with my existing slot, but December 14th would work out fine as well. (I would undoubtedly ship it December 19th, since I don't need a whole week and it is probably best not to ship directly into the Christmas rush week. :) )

I assume there is no problem with shipping early IF the recipient is available to receive the package ?

So - just in case anyone who has already installed is reading - do the Windows drivers installed for Bifrost work when Gungnir is connected ? Or will I have to reinstall again ? (Just curious.)

You shouldn't have to re-install. I have a bifrost and had to get the drivers for a loaner Schiit product as well.
Once the drivers for the bifrost are installed, they are installed. When you re-connect your bifrost again, it should work fine - the bifrost drivers will not uninstall because of installing drivers for the gungnir. If you had to re-install drivers for every piece of hardware you connect or disconnect, we would be spending all day everyday re-installing drivers. So you should be fine - you shouldn't have to re-install the bifrost drivers just because you install the gungnir drivers.

If you want to keep the bifrost and gungnir connected to your PC at the same time, but only use one or the other, then go into your windows control panel and select which DAC you want to use as your primary sound device. You can just switch between which DAC you want to use by selecting in the control panel under sound which DAC you want to use by setting the DAC you want to use as the default device.

Sorry, I did not word the question very well. I was asking whether the Schiit drivers for the Bifrost would work for the Gungnir (without doing a new driver install). They are the same file which is labeled "Gen 2 Drivers for Modi 2, Modi 2 Uber, Bifrost, and Gungnir".

If the driver files are the same, you shouldn't have to install again. Drivers go to a Windows system directory. You'll probably see the new hardware installing but it ought to use the existing drivers.

Btw, @PoochZag, are there balanced cables in there now?

Yes, the 3' balanced cables that we bought are inside of a USPS padded envelope safely beneath the suspended Gungnir in the box. I even rubbed it up against my Mjolnir 2 just to really verify nothing weird would happen should it come in contact with the bottom of the Gungnir (it won't). As noted previously, my box still measured 12lbs 1oz at the post office, so I don't anticipate the very small added weight being an issue for anyone, but if it is please let me know.

Of course, I encourage anyone who would find them useful to use the cables as well

Hate to rock the boat again, but can you take me off this loaner? Last minute relatives will be staying here for the holidays so I'll have almost no listening time.

Someone else can enjoy it. I'm sure I'll hear one eventually.

I can take it. Just got my vi DAC ship notice. 8) My comparison will be the ultimate slugfest to determine the fate of the audio industry. Man versus god. Day versus night. The vi DACs are coming, the vi DACs are coming
