They have, and they weren’t pleased. Always best to start with the search function, assuming you haven’t already. It should be earlier in this thread somewhere.

Thanks for the info. I have indeed search the thread before asking. There is a comment about using it directly to speaker (active speakers i asdume, which is not recommended) what I was lookig for is to use it as MJ2 > Amp > Speakers. Technically it should be the same as to active speakers. But I was hoping someone made a different setup.

Anyway I will try it once i get my setup.

I purchased a used Mjolnir 2 a couple of weeks ago. The only flaw I have experienced so far is that the tubes are seated a bit too low. It’s an unnecessary challenge to remove them to try other options. Everything else works great!

If you do wish to remove the tubes, I use Jason's suggested method. Wrap a piece of packing tape around the top of the tube, pull up with one hand, guide with the other.

Personally, those silicon wristbands work fine for me. They are thick enough to prevent burns when removing hot tubes with sufficient grip.

Not sure if it has been mentioned else where, but I use a nifty contraption similar to this.

Fyi, mine isn't rusted and old like that. Got it new from mediahound from HF.

Better yet, I just found this (scroll to the bottom)

@Todd Fredericks maybe get socket savers if available for the sockets should increase the size of the tube for easy lifting so they double for pin saving

Thanks everyone for the socket saver suggestions. I’ll look into getting them!

Agree with @Elnrik - If you go this route, it would be wise to check continuity and for shorts on the neighboring pins (there are a lot of junky parts for sale).

I recently acquired a Mjolnir2 amp and had a chance to really listen to it over the weekend. I really like it so far and each tube does impart a different sound so it will take some time to figure out which one I like best.

Same experience I’m having. My new Sennheiser HD800s are starting to open up more and I can also hear what the amp is capable of. Right now, I’m using is solid state because I’m putting a few hours on the new headphones. I’m going to get some tube socket savers and put the tubes back in next week. What a great piece of gear!

Just any regular silicon wristbands. Wrap around the tubes, pinch the excess, then gently rock the tubes out.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, or if anyone else actually does this. When I had the Mjolnir 2 I'd remove the tubes by first taking one and rotating it around in it's socket while applying gentle upward motion, making sure not to let go of the tube lest it fall inside. I would then simply repeat this for the second tube until the pins are no longer in the socket.

Not sure if this is bad for the socket itself, but I tended to use a slight circular motion when removing tubes from the SEX amp as well.

Curious if anyone else used this method.

Edit: I shouldn't say rotate, never twist them :D lmao

I just rock them gently, no 'twisting'. Twisting risks bending pins, or maybe (not sure), stressing the socket. Not good.

The use of tape is a suggestion I read somewhere from Jason at Schiit. No worries about the tube falling into the chassis, and most of the force I apply is straight and upward, pulling on the tape. Works well.
