In the honor of in my opinion the most important man regarding audio of all time, here's his small introductory lecture I've found on youtube. It's nothing new for me, and so will probably be nothing much new to most of friends and contribs, but for some, it might be interesting, and also, this is now, unfortunately, the only way for me to see the man. I've actually planned on visiting the US again for the sole purpose of meeting him in person and buying the plans for his best speaker from him directly. This will never happen now. :(

Posting here before EU's link tax articles 11 and 13.

He explains why usual box speakers don't perform so well in typical household rooms and some (very) light physics behind it.

PS. He's so adorable when he pulls out that "box" speaker out of nowhere :D
PS2. His name is just amazing. It sounds like something straight out of Marvel.

"Crossovers may be implemented either as passive RLC networks, as active filters with operational amplifier circuits or with DSP engines and software. The only excuse for passive crossovers is their low cost. Their behavior changes with the signal level dependent dynamics of the drivers. They block the power amplifier from taking maximum control over the voice coil motion. They are a waste of time, if accuracy of reproduction is the goal." -SL

"Forget all the digital shit. Only analog sings, you will see when you get more experience. I always hear electricness, sibilance in digital." - my audiophile friend that built Tad speakers (that sound about the best I've yet heard from loudspeakers) and built about a hundred tube amps

I greatly respect both but of course agree with SL (about everything mostly). This hobby is great, so many opinions and feelings :)

My answer is, why, get both, of course.

Also, apparently Linkwitz was a madlad

"SL: It occurred to me, Fitz, that I am spending valuable time of my life on explaining things to you, which I have already dealt with on my website some time ago. You may not have seen or studied the subjects or come to different conclusions."

PS: look at what I found on LS sites as well
